Sid Bice, a standout wrestler from Winner, S.D., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Augustana College and wrestle for the Vikings, head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier announced today.
Bice was a five-time Class A state tournament placer at Winner High
School. Bice capped his career by posting a 39-0 record and winning the
125-pound state title as a senior. In addition, he was named the Most
Outstanding Wrestler at the Class A State Tournament, and he received
the Dave Schultz South Dakota Wrestler of the Year, which is given to
the state's top wrestler.
As a junior, he went 46-2 and captured the 119-pound state crown. Bice
had an 85-2 record during his final 2 seasons with the Warriors.
Bice also finished third at state as a sophomore and second as a
freshman in 2004. That year, Winner won the Class A state team
championship.
"Sid is a very accomplished wrestler," Reitmeier said. "He has had
success at every level and it will continue at the college ranks.
He is an explosive athlete who will bring a toughness to our team. I am
excited to welcome Sid to the program."
Bice is the ninth member of Augustana's 2007 wrestling recruiting
class. He joins a class that includes Elliot Bloom and Tyler Jacob of
Rapid City, S.D., Jason Jermiason of Marshall, Minn., Casey Mouw of
Sioux Center, Iowa, and Gavin Nelson of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Robert
Eklund of Friend, Neb., Matthew Morris of Albert Lea, Minn., and Brett
LeBrun of New Ulm, Minn.
