FARGO, ND -- North Dakota State University
head wrestling coach Bucky Maughan announced today that Jacob Sailer of
Frazee (Minn.) High School is planning to continue his education and
wrestle for NDSU beginning in Fall 2007.
Sailer was a two-time Minnesota Class A state qualifier that placed
fourth at 152 pounds in 2007. In his final two seasons, Sailer compiled
a record of 57-23 and helped the Hornets to back-to-back team runner-up
finishes at the state championships in 2006 and 2007.
Sailer excelled academically as well, being selected as an honorable
mention selection to The Guillotine 2007 academic all-state team.
Along with Taylor Nagel of Corvallis (Mont.) High School, Sailer will
join the wrestling team as recruited walk-ons. Recruits Tyler Hemmesch
of Elk River (Minn.) High School, Kirk Anderson of Barnesville (Minn.)
High School, Shannon Fettig of Napoleon High School (N.D.), Tyler
Steinwand of Mandan (N.D.) High School and Trent Sovde of
Greenbush-Middle River (Minn.) High School have all signed National
Letters of Intent to wrestle for the Bison.
North Dakota State is a member of the Western Wrestling Conference and
finished with an 8-5-1 record overall. The Bison became eligible for
NCAA Championships in the 2006-07 season, qualifying three wrestlers in
their first year.
