Omaha, Neb.: In action at number four ranked Nebraska-Omaha(4-1) on
Friday, Jan. 19, the St. Cloud State wrestling team (2-2) suffered a
37-12 setback against the Mavericks in Omaha, Neb.
In his first return to his alma mater as the Huskies' head coach, Steve
Costanzo saw Adam Minnette collect a pin against UNO's Derek Keasling
at 1:42. Of note, Costanzo was an All-America wrestler during his
college career at UNO.
SCSU's other points in the match were collected by Westy Hanson at
125-pounds, who won by default.
In other action, UNO's Jeff Rau posted a 9-0 win at 133-pounds over
SCSU's Sonny Silva. At 141-pounds, UNO's Marcus Hilario defeated
SCSU's Tim Whitley by a close 3-1 margin.
At 149-pounds, UNO's #3 Todd Meneely rolled to a technical fall at
4:20. At 165-pounds Ross Taplin (#2 ranked) carded a 5:33 pin
over SCSU's Matt Steffenson. #1 ranked 174-pounder J.D. Naig of
UNO charted a fall over SCSU's Neil Russell at 2:11 and Nate Oviatt
gained a 3-0 win over SCSU's Nick Wilkes at 184.
At 197-pounds, UNO's Jacob Marrs (#2) posted an 18-6 win over Jairo
Sandoval and at 285-pounds UNO's Tony Lewis won by default.
On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Huskies will travel to Augustana College for
an NCC dual match at 2 p.m.
