Friday, January 26, 2007
LARAMIE, Wyo. -- North Dakota State (4-3, 1-1 WWC) lost their first
four bouts and couldn't recover, losing to Wyoming (2-8, 1-1 WWC) 20-16
in a Western Wrestling Conference dual at the UniWyo Sports Complex on
Friday, January 26.
The Bison trailed 13-0 until Adam Aho recorded a 9-0 major decision
over Dane Fuhrman at 157 pounds. The Bison trimmed the lead to
13-7 in the following bout when Mike Quamme defeated Kyle Morrow in a
11-8 decision at 165 pounds.
The Bison still had hopes of winning the dual after 184-pounder Matt
Wetterling won his sixth consecutive match with a 6-2 decision over Dan
Barrone, cutting the lead to 16-10.
But all hopes of a NDSU comeback were erased after Wyoming's Sam
Wendland defeated Jacob Bryce 10-2 at 197 pounds.
In the final bout of the evening, heavyweight Justin LaGosh recorded
his second consecutive pin by sticking Jason Still's shoulders to the
mat with 20 seconds remaining in the first period.
The Bison conclude their road trip on Saturday, January 27 against
Western Wrestling Conference foe Air Force. Match time is
scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the USAFA Cadet Gymnasium.
