Upper Iowa, 31-10

Fayette, Iowa - The St. Cloud State University wrestling (3-5) dropped
a tough 31-10 decision at Upper Iowa on Feb. 2, in Fayette, Iowa.
At 125, the Huskies' Westy Hanson lost a 10-1 decision to #6 Tyler
Mumbulo of UIU. The Huskies came back at 133 with a 13-4 win by
SCSU's Sonny Silva over UIU's Jacob Pedersen. At 141, UIU's John
Gamble won a 16-3 match against Matt Jackson of SCSU.
In action at 149, SCSU's Grant Jackson won a big 14-8 decision over
UIU's Andy Norton. At 157, UIU's Travis Eggers charted a 13-5 win
over Adam Minnette of SCSU. At 165, #4 Mitch Norton of UIU rolled
to a 11-5 win over SCSU's Matt Steffenson.
At 174, #8 Brady Hakeman of UIU charted a pin at 3:26 against SCSU's
Neil Russell. SCSU's final points of the night were produced by
Nick Wilkes at 184 with a well played 4-3 win over UIU's
Tony Gehling.
At 197, SCSU's Jairo Sandoval lost a tough 14-3 match against UIU's #5
Ryan Phillips. To complete the match, #8 Dan Goodson of UIU won
by forfeit. The Huskies are now 3-5 on the season in dual meet
competiton and they will complete their weekend with a trip to Dubuque,
Iowa for the University of Dubuque Open on Feb. 3.
