Championship Match - Saturday, March 17th

Hwt - #1 Cole Konrad (MN) fall #2 Aaron Anspach (Penn State) 1:53
After trading attempts and going out of bounds a few times, Konrad took Anspach from his feet to the mat and turned him and pressured his shoulders until the fall.

Third Place Matches - Saturday, March 17th

184 - #2 Roger Kish (MN) dec. #7 Alex Clemsen (Edinboro) 3-2
Kish scored on single-to-a-doule leg takedown. Clemsen escaped and trailed 2-1 after the first period. Clemsen chose down. Clemsen tied the score at 2-2 with an escape. Kish was down to start the third period. Kish took the lead with an escape. Kish was warned for stalling, but he was able to fend off Clemsen's attacks to win 3-2

149 - #1 Dustin Schlatter (MN) dec. #10 Lance Palmer (Ohio State) 1-0
Scoreless first period. Palmer chose down and Schlatter rode him tough the entire second period. Schlatter chose neutral and was able to defend.

Fifth Place Matches - Saturday, March 17th

Scoreless first period. Kocher chose down and quickly escaped. Kocher led 1-0 to start the third period. Schlatter chose down. Kocher built 1:33 riding time before Schlatter could get out. Kocher fended off Schlatter's attempts until time ran out.

Ness took Blanc from his feet to his back a minute into it for the fall

Consolation Semifinals - Saturday, March 17th

184 - #2 Roger Kish (MN) dec. #3 Mike Pucillo (Ohio State) 7-5
Kish scored first off of a low single leg takedown. Pucillo escaped. Kish led 2-1 after the first period. Pucillo chose down and Kish built 1:09 riding time before giving up an escape. Kish got a single leg takedown. Kish led 4-2 with 1:45 riding time to start the third period. Kish went down. Kish warned for stalling on the bottom. Pucillo awarded a stall point. Kish escaped, but no longer had riding time. Pucillo tied the match 5-5 with 20 seconds left with a takedown. Kish reversed with five seconds left for the 7-5 win.

157 - #3 James Strouse (Hofstra) dec. #4 C.P. Schlatter (MN) 3-2
After a scoreless first period Strouse chose down. Schlatter built 1:16 riding time before getting warned for stalling and Strouse got an escape. Schlatter chose neutral. Strouse got a takedown and Schlatter escaped. Schlatter awarded a stall point, but time ran out.

Consolation Quarterfinals - Friday, March 16th

Scoreless first period. Schlatter chose neutral. Zupancic warned for stalling. Tied 0-0 after the second period. Zupancic chose down and rode him out to win with riding time.

Scoreless first period. Reiter chose neutral to start the second period. McCormick got a takedown. Reiter escaped. Stall warning to McCormick. Reiter trailed 2-1 after the second period. McCormick chose down. Reiter rode tough erasing McCormick's riding time. Looked like Reiter was going to try to ride him out and turn him. McCormick reversed with just a few seconds left for the win.

Semifinals - Friday, March 16th

Hwt - #1 Cole Konrad (MN) dec. #5 Ty Watterson (Oregon State) 2-1
Scoreless first period. Watterson chose down and Konrad rode for 1:31 before giving up an escape. Konrad chose down in the third period and escaped. Watterson made a slight takedown attempt but Konrad defended. Konrad won on 1:28 riding time.

184 - #6 Jake Varner (Iowa State) dec. #2 Roger Kish (MN) 4-2 SV
Scoreless first period. Kish looks timid. Varner choses down and escapes quickly. Neither wrestler attempted much. Varner led 1-0 to start the third period. Kish chose neutral. Kish gets a double leg takedown to take the lead 2-1. Kish builds :49 riding time before Varner escapes. Tme runs out in regulation tied 2-2. Kish took a shot and they got in a scramble. Varner came out on top with five seconds left for the overtime win.

149 - #5 Gregor Gillespie (Edinboro) dec. #1 Dustin Schlatter (MN) 3-2
Gillespie scored a double leg takedown in the first period and Schlatter escaped. Gillespie led 2-1 to start the second period. Gillespie chose down and escaped. Gillespie warned for stalling. Schlatter had, what looked like a takedown on the edge of the mat, but the ref called out of bounds instead. Gillespie led 3-1 to start the third period. Schlatter chose neutral. Gillespie backed up a lot. Gillespie finally hit for a stalling point. Time ran out.

125 - #1 Sam Hazewinkel (Oklahoma) maj. dec. #4 Jayson Ness (MN) 10-0
Hazewinkel and Ness got in a scramble and Hazewinkel came out on top with Ness on his back for three near-fall. Ness had to fight off his back. Hazewinkel led 5-0 after the first period. Hazewinkel chose down and escaped. Hazewinkel added a takedown at the buzzer to lead 8-0. Ness chose neutral. Ness couldn't get Hazewinkel out of position and tried a headlock near the end and slipped, giving up the last takedown.

Consolation Fifth Round - Friday, March 16th

Schlatter score first with a takedown. Becker escaped. Schlatter led 2-1 after the first period. Schlatter chose neutral to start the second period. Scoreless second period. Becker chose down and Schlatter rode picking up a stall warning. Schlatter rode until he built 1:13 riding time and then cut Becker loose. Schlatter fended off Becker's attempts for the 3-2 win.

141 - #7 Brandon Rader (West Virginia) dec. #4 Manuel Rivera (MN) 9-5 - eliminated
Rader got on the board first with a takedown and rode Rivera for 1:08 before an escape. Rader chose down and reversed. Rader was warned for stalling. Rivera escaped and came back with an ankle pick takedown. Match tied 4-4 after the second period. Rivera chose neutral. Rader got a takedown and Rivera escaped. Rader added a takedown off of a last second attempt by Rivera.

Consolation Fourth Round - Friday, March 16th

174 - #3 Steve Luke (Michigan) dec. Gabe Dretsch (MN) 2-1 TB - eliminated
Scoreless first period. Dretsch and Luke traded escapes in the second and third periods to send it to overtime 1-1. Scoreless sudden victory period. Luke chose down and escaped in one second. In the next 30 second period, Dretsch wasn't able to get away.

165 - #11 Patrick Pitsch (Arizona State) dec. Tyler Safratowich (MN) 7-4 - eliminated
Pitsch scored first with a double leg takedown. Safratowich got to his feet and Pitsch brought him to hte mat hard. Safratowich took injury time (shoulder). Pitsch built two minutes of riding time and led 2-0 after the first period. Safratowich took down and got an escape. Safratowich almost converted a takedown but Pitsch fought it off. Pitsch led 2-1 after the second period. Pitsch chose down and Safratowich cut him loose. Safratowich got an edge-of-the-mat takedown and Pitch took a breather while his coach discussed the call. Safratowich cut Pitsch loose again. Pitch got a good double leg takedown to seal the win.

Quarterfinals - Friday, March 16th

Hwt - #1 Cole Konrad (MN) maj. dec. #9 Michael Spaid (Bloomsburg) 16-4
Konrad jumped out to a 9-2 first period lead off of three takedowns and three nearfall points. Konrad added two takedowns in the second period and another in the third period in a dominating performance.

184 - #2 Roger Kish (MN) dec. #7 Alex Clemsen (Edinboro) 9-5
Kish and Clemsen traded takedowns and escapes in the first period. Clemsen chose down and took the lead with an escape. Kish shot a single leg and got in a scramble, but came out on top with a takedown. Kish led 5-4 with :52 riding time after the second period. Kish chose down and escaped. Kish added a single leg takedown and with 1:06 riding time won 9-5.

157 - #5 Michael Poeta (Illinois) dec. #4 C.P. Schlatter (MN) 5-4
Schlatter came out strong with a split/through the legs takedown. Stall warning for Schlatter as he rode out the period. Schlatter chose down and got a quick escape. No scoring in the second period. Schlatter led 3-0 with 2:00 riding time entering the third period. Poeta chose down and escaped. Schlatter called for stallng (1 point). Schlatter called for stalling again (1 point). Poeta got takedown with three seconds left for the 5-4 win.

149 - #1 Dustin Schlatter (MN) dec. Tyler Turner (Wisconsin) 6-3
Schlatter got a shrug-by takedown and tilted for two nearfall in the first period and led 4-0 with 1:51 riding time. Schlatter chose neutral. No scoring in the second period. Turner chose down and escaped. Turner got a takedown on the edge of the mat. Schlatter looked dinged up a bit and took some injury time. Turner cut Schlatter for an escape. Schlatter fended off Turner the rest of the period. With riding time, Schlatter won 6-3.

141 - Don Fisch (Rider) dec. #4 Manuel Rivera (MN) 10-4
Rivera scored first with a takedown and led 2-1 after the first period. Rivera chose down and Fisch rode him until three seconds left in the period when Rivera escaped. Fisch chose down and got an escape. Fisch got a takdown. Fisch turned Rivera to his back for three nearfall. Rivera got out of it and got an escape. Fisch added a takedown for the 10-4 win.

133 - #2 Matthew Valenti (Penn) dec. #7 Mack Reiter (MN) 4-0
Reiter got in on a single leg but Valenti got out of it. Scoreless first period. Valenti chose down and escaped fairly quickly. Valenti led 1-0 after the second period. Reiter chose down. Valenti did a good job riding and then he titled Reiter for two nearfall. Valenti added riding time for the 4-0 win.

125 - #4 Jayson Ness (MN) dec. #5 Charlie Falck (Iowa) 3-0
A couple of good scrambles in the first period, but no scoring. Ness took down and Falck built 1:06 riding time before giving up an escape. Falck chose neutral. Ness got a takedown with about 30 seconds left and rode Falck out for the 3-0 win. Both wrestlers had a couple good takedown attempts. Exciting match.

Consolation Third Round - Friday, March 16th

Hwt - Joe Fendone (Edinboro) dec. Kyle Massey (Wisconsin) 10-7 - eliminated
Wrestlers got in a scramble and Massey ended up in a cradle. Fendone led 5-0 after the first period. Massey chose down and got a reversal. Massey worked Fendone over with a leg ride for three nearfall. Fendone scrambled out of it and Massey was called for clasping around the legs. Fendone led 6-5 efter the second period. Fendone chose neutral. Massey got a double leg takedown. Massey was up 7-6 when Fendone got a reversal and two nearfall with about four seconds left in the match.

174 - Gabe Dretsch (MN) dec. #12 Mike Letts (Maryland) 4-2 OT
Letts scored a first period takedown and Dretsch escaped. Dretsch chose down and tied the score 2-2 with and escape. Letts had 1:48 riding time to start the third period. Dretsch rode Letts the entire period erasing riding time and sending the match into overtime. Dretsch countered a Letts shot and got a takedown 40 seconds into the sudden death overtime.

165 - Tyler Safratowich (MN) fall Eric Decker (Virginia Tech) 4:30
Decker scored first with a takedown and Safratowich reversed. Score tied 2-2 after the first period. Safratowich chose down and escaped. Safratowich got a front-half and powered Decker over and got the fall.

149 - #11 Cyler Sanderson (Iowa State) dec. Ryan Adams (NDSU) 5-2 - eliminated
Scoreless first period. Sanderson chose down and escaped. Sanderson got a single-to-a-double leg takedown and led 3-0 after the second period. Adams chose down in the third period. Adams escaped. Sanderson added a takedown and Adams escaped.

Hwt - Kyle Massey (Wisconsin) vs Jermail Porter (Kent State)

Porter scored a double leg takedown. Penalty point for Massey for a technical violation. Massey escape. Tied 2-2 after the first period. Massey chose down and escaped. Massey underhooked and brought Porter to his back for five points. Massey led 8-2 after the second period. Porter chose neutral. Porter scored a double leg takedown. Massey reversed. With riding time, Massey won 11-4.

197 - Nathan Moore (Purdue) maj. dec. Jacob Bryce (NDSU) 12-0 - eliminated
Moore score off an ankle pick. Moore added two nearfall and led 4-0 after the first period. Bryce chose neutral. Moore scored a double leg takedown. Moore led 6-0 after the second period. Moore chose down and escaped. Moore got a takedown and two back points when Bryce tried to roll through.

Alverenga had the only first period points witht a takedown. Alverenga chose down and escaped. Adams awarded a stalling point. Alverenga led 3-1 after the second period. Adams chose down. Adams awarded another stall point for not bringing to the mat by Alverenga. Adams reversed to take a 4-3 lead. Alverenga escaped. Adams scored the winning takedown.

125 - Chad Sportelli (Kent State) dec. Eric Hoffman (NDSU) 9-7 - eliminated
Hoffman led 5-2 after the second period after a reversal and three nearfall off of a tilt. Sportelli scored nearfall and two third-period takedowns for the win.

Second Round - Thursday, March 15th

Hwt - #1 Cole Konrad (MN) maj. dec. Rashad Goff (Cleveland State) 9-1
Konrad had three takedowns. Goff rode pretty tough in the second period erasing most of Konrad's riding time. Konrad added a spin around takedown with three seconds left for the 9-1 major decision.

184 - #2 Roger Kish (MN) fall Shawn Vincent (Northern Colorado) 1:44
Vincent scored first with a quick takedown. Kish escaped and came back with a takedown. The wrestlers came to their feet, Kish lifted Vincent and brought him back to the mat and used a half-nelson to turn him for the fall.

174 - #1 Ben Askren (Missouri) fall Gabe Dretsch (MN) 4:51
Askren led 4-2 after the first period off of two takedowns. Akren added two more takedowns in the second period before he put Dretsch to his back for the fall.

165 - #9 Matthew Pell (Missouri) maj. dec. Tyler Safratowich (MN) 14-3
Pell dominated with five takedowns and a tilt nearfall for the 14-3 win.

157 - #4 C.P. Schlatter (MN) dec. John Jarred (Navy) 1-0
Scoreless first period. Jarred chose down and nearly escaped several times but Schlatter rode him tough the entire period. Score tied at zero, but two minutes of riding time for Schlatter to start the third period. Schlatter chose neutral. Schlatter warned for stalling. time ran out and Schlatter won 1-0

Schlatter scored a single leg takedown in the first period. Schlatter rode the entire second period. Schlatter chose neutral and both wresters worked for position for most of the period. Schlatter got a takedown with 11 seconds left to seal the win.

Two takedowns and riding time against two escapes for Rivera.

Reiter led 4-1 with two takedowns in the first period. Baker chose neutral and got a takedown. Reiter added an escape and takedown at the end of the period to lead 7-3 after the second period. Reiter chose down and Baker cut him loose. Baker got a quick takedown and cut Reiter again. Reiter added a takedown for the 12-5 win. Reiter's knee appeared to bother him a little bit.

125 - #4 Jayson Ness (MN) fall Tyler Shinn (Oklahoma State) 4:17
Ness got a good lift single but Shinn was able to scramble out of it. Ness scored on a single leg takedown and added two nearfall. Ness led 4-0 after the first period with 1:44 riding time. Ness chose down. Ness reversed, put Shinn in a half-nelson and powered him over for the fall.

First Round - Thursday, March 15th

Hwt - #12 Wade Sauer (Cal State Fullerton) dec. Kyle Massey (Wisconsin) 5-4
These two were pretty evenly matched, but riding time was the difference in the 5-4 win for Sauer.

Hwt - #1 Cole Konrad (MN) dec. Jared Rosholt (Oklahoma State) 8-2
Scoreless first period. Rosholt chose down and Konrad rode the entire second period. Konrad chose down and got a reversal. Konrad added two nearfall with a tilt. Konrad added a spin-around takedown to finish the match 8-2 with riding time.

197 - #9 Kurt Backes (Iowa State) maj. dec. Jacob Bryce (NDSU) 16-4
Backes had five takedowns, a reversal, and three nearfall, giving up only escapes to Bryce.

184 - #2 Roger Kish (MN) maj. dec. Jack Jensen (Oklahoma State) 12-3
Kish dominated with three takedowns, a tilt for three nearfall, and riding time.

174 - Gabe Dretsch (MN) dec. Nathan Lee (Boise State) 5-3
First and third period takedowns for Dretsch sealed the win. He gave up three escapes.

165 - Tyler Safratowich (MN) dec. #8 Steve Anceravage (Cornell) 8-4
Anceravage led 2-0 after the first period off a takedown. Safratowich escaped in the second period and muscled a single leg takedown putting Anceravage on his back for two nearfall. Safratowich led 5-2 going into the third. Safratowich rode building 1:19 riding time before Anceravage escaped. Anceravage was awarded a stall point. Safratowich added a takedown off of an Anceravage desperation shot near the end of the match.

157 - #4 C.P. Schlatter (MN) maj. dec. Cody Midlam (Duquesne) 10-2
Schlatter scored four takedowns, including one with 18 seconds left in the match for the major decision.

149 - #12 Dan Vallimont (Penn State) maj. dec. Ryan Adams (NDSU) 11-2
Vallimont built an early lead with a four-point takedown cradle combination in the first period. Adams scored a takedown in the third, but Vallimont added a takedown and nearfall near the end of the match.

149 - #1 Dustin Schlatter (MN) dec. Jordan Burroughs (Nebraska) 3-2
Schlatter scored the only takedown of the match in the second period. Fans got a scare when Burroughs got in on a good double leg attempt as time ran out in the match.

141 - #4 Manuel Rivera (MN) maj. dec. Matthew Schumm (Cal State Bakersfield) 14-4
Rivera looked good on his feet. No signs of an injury. Rivera scored five points on a cradle takedown on the edge of the mat in the second period. He had five takedowns total.

133 - #7 Mack Reiter (MN) fall Richard Donald (Bloomsburg) 4:36
Reiter led 2-0 after the first period on a single-to-a-double leg takedown. Donald chose down. Reiter locked up a cradle and got a fall at 4:36.

125 - #4 Jayson Ness (MN) fall Taylor Cummins (North Carolina State) 2:28
After a couple of scrambles in the neutral position, Ness scored a double leg takedown. Ness used a half-nelson to turn Cummins for the fall.

125 - #8 Gabriel Flores (Illinois) dec. Eric Hoffman (NDSU) 2-0
The only scoring was a Flores takedown in the first period. Both wrestlers rode the other the entire period.

Pigtail Round - Thursday, March 15th
