Mack Reiter, the University of Minnesota’s
two-time All-American and senior captain at 133 pounds, has been
selected to replace Missouri’s Tyler McCormick at the 42nd annual NWCA
All-Star Classic in Eugene, Ore. The University of Oregon's McArthur
Court will host the event this Monday, Nov. 19 at 9 p.m. (CT).
Reiter joins teammates Jayson Ness (125), Dustin Schlatter (149) and
Roger Kish (184) as Golden Gophers as participants in the event.
Currently, Reiter is ranked second nationally at 133 pounds, according
to the latest InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Division I rankings.
This is Reiter’s third All-Star Classic selection. Reiter lost to
fifth-ranked Darrel Vasquez of Cal Poly at the 2005 event (6-3) but did
not compete in the 2006 event after tearing his ACL during the
preseason. McCormick was forced to withdraw due to a leg injury.
The NWCA All-Star Classic will be televised via tape delay by CSTV
Wednesday, Nov. 21 beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CT). Live event video
coverage will also be available via www.livesportsvideo.com.
Reiter will face top-ranked Coleman Scott of Oklahoma State at 133
pounds. The Gilbertville, Iowa native is the second replacement in this
year’s event. Minnesota’s four selections in the 2007 All-Star Classic
is the highest total ever for the program – Minnesota wrestlers have
made 20 previous appearances in the Classic.
