Mavericks Ranked Second in Most Recent Wrestling Poll

Minnesota State is ranked second in the most recent poll released by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches’ Association.
MSU was rated third in the 2007-08 preseason rankings.
The Mavericks, who are 1-0 on the year and finished fourth at last
year’s national tournament, totalled 152 points in the poll. Number one
Nebraska-Kearney tops the poll with 158 points and last year’s national
champions from Central Oklahoma are rated third with 140 points.
Six individuals from MSU are ranked in their respective weight
classes. Senior Jason Rhoten (Mantorville, Minn.) is ranked
second at 157. Senior Andy Pickar (Brainerd, Minn.) is ranked
second at 165. Sophomore heavyweight Brady Wilson (Faribault,
Minn.) is ranked third. Junior Tim Matheson (Circle Pines, Minn.)
is ranked fourth at 174. Senior Nick Smith (Yankton, S.D.) is
ranked sixth at 125 and sophomore Travis Elg (Mountain Lake, Minn.) is
ranked eighth at 141.
MSU is slated to compete at the St. Cloud State Open this Saturday in its next action.
