St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University wrestling
team, which will host the annual Husky Open tournament on Dec. 8 in
SCSU’s Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse, was ranked 20th in the latest NCAA
Division II national poll. The Huskies received eight points in the
poll, and this marked the first time this season that SCSU has been
ranked among the nation’s top 20 Division II wrestling teams.
SCSU junior Brad Padgett, a resident of Buckley, Wash. and transfer
from Highline C.C., was ranked sixth nationally in the 184-pound
division. Padgett owns a 6-1 record this season, and he most recently
gained top honors at 184-pounds at the 2007 Minnesota State Moorhead
Dragon Open. For his efforts, Padgett was named the North Central
Conference Wrestler of the Week on Dec. 4.
The Husky Open will begin at 9 a.m. on Dec. 8, in SCSU’s Halenbeck Hall
South Fieldhouse. Admission for the event is $6 and $3 for youth and
