SJU travels to PA in 2008
The Saint John’s wrestling squad will enjoy the holiday break before traveling to compete at the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College Jan. 11-12 in Williamsport, Pa. SJU went 3-2 at the Duals last year, falling to No. 14 York, Pa., 22-18 in the first dual of competition and then defeated Oswego State, N.Y. (17-16) before falling to Baldwin-Wallace, Ohio (29-17). The Johnnies returned on Saturday to defeat Muskingum, Ohio (35-6) and Wabash, Ind. (due to forfeit). Mogi Baatar (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict’s Prep., N.J.), then a freshman, tallied a 4-0 record at 125 lbs. at the dual meet last year.

Young squad struggles at Terry Haws Duals
Collegeville, Minn. – Hampered by injuries, the Saint John’s wrestling team went 0-4 at its annual Terry Haws Duals last Saturday, Dec. 15. The Johnnies fell to Dubuque, Iowa (25-10); No. 14 (NCAA Division II) MSU-Moorhead (29-9); No. 12 (NCAA Division III) Buena Vista Iowa (27-7); and No. 20 (NCAA Division II) St. Cloud State (41-3. Sophomore Mogi Baatar (right) went 3-0 at 125 lbs. with two major decision wins, including a 15-5 victory over No. 9 Mike Mille from Buena Vista, Iowa. Freshman Dustin Baxter (left; Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley) went 2-1 overall at 184 lbs. Baatar, who tied the school record for wins as a freshman with 33 last season, is currently 17-4 on the year and will be featured on KARE-11 TV during the 10 p.m. newscast Thursday, Dec. 20.
