St. Cloud State Wrestlers Named to NCC Academic Honor Roll

Hanson, Hill, Jackson and Sundgren Named to Honor Roll
St. Cloud State University
junior Adam Hill, junior Matt Jackson, sophomore Westy Hanson and
freshman John Sundgren have all been named to the 2007-08 North Central
Conference Commisssioner’s Academic Honor Roll for wrestling.
To qualify student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 grade point
average, have completed at least two semesters at their current school
and have competed against outside competition.
A resident of Sauk Rapids and graduate of Mahtomedi High School, Hill
is a business/economics major at St. Cloud State. Jackson is a resident
of Oakdale and a mathematics major at SCSU. He is a graduate of
Cretin-Derham Hall. Both Hill and Jackson were named to the NCC
Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2006-07.
Hanson, a resident of Crookston, is an education major at SCSU.
Hanson placed fifth in the 125-pound weight division at the 2008 NCAA
Division II North Regional. He was 16-17 in action at 125-pounds
for the Huskies this season. The group was completed by Sundgren,
who is a resident of Blaine and a graduate of Blaine High School.
Sundgren is currently ranked seventh in the nation at 157-pounds, and
he placed third at the 2008 NCAA Division II Regional. A
qualifier for the upcoming NCAA Division II championships, Sundgren
owns a 22-7 record this season.
The Huskies posted a 13-2 dual meet record this season, and they
recently placed fourth as a team at the 2008 NCAA Division II North
Regional tournament. SCSU will advance seven wrestlers to the upcoming
NCAA Division II championships, which will be held on March 14-15, in
Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
