Mavericks Open NCC Action With 33-6 Win Over Vikings

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State wrestling squad opened its
2007-08 North Central Conference duals with a 33-6 win over the
Augustana College Vikings tonight. The Mavericks lost only two matches

Third-ranked junior Tim Matheson (Circle Pines, Minn.) picked up the
only pinfall in the match as he was able to stick Andrew Sorenson at
the 6:52 mark at 174-pounds. Top-ranked senior Jason Rhoten
(Mantorville, Minn.) added a tech-fall win for the Mavericks as he
pulled a 22-7 win over Gavin Nelson at 6:23 at 157-pounds.
Minnesota State returns to action next Saturday as it participates in the central Missouri Duals in Warrensburg, Mo.
