Mavericks Pitch Shutout Against Southwest Minnesota State

Marshall, Minn. -- Top-ranked Minnesota State earned 49-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State Saturday evening in Marshall.
The Mavericks earned points in three matches, without even wrestling as
freshmen Matt Nyvold and Tommy Abbott, and sophomore Brady Wilson all
won by forfeit.
Sophomore Travis Elg and senior Andy Pickar each won by technical fall,
with Elg earning a 16-0 win and Pickar earning a 21-5 victory.
Top-ranked 157-pounder, and MSU career wins holder, Jason Rhoten earned
a fall over Logan McAlpin in 2:01. At 197 pounds, junior Tom Block
earned 17-4 major decision over Cody Chamblin. Junior Tim Matheson and
sophomore Ben Becker each earned wins via the decision.
Minnesota State (18-1-1) hosts North Central Conference foe St. Cloud State, Friday at 7 p.m.
