The St. Cloud State University
wrestling team (13-2) has been ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division
II national wrestling polls. The Huskies will compete next at the
NCAA Division II wrestling championships on March 14-15 in Cedar Rapds,
Iowa.
Minnesota State Mankato topped the poll with 160 points, while NCC
rival Nebraska-Omaha was second with 149 points. SCSU gained 79
points in the poll. SCSU's Gabe Suarez broke into the indvidual
rankings with an 8th place ranking at 141-pounds. At 157-pounds,
John Sundgren was ranked 8th in the nation at the Division II
level. The Huskies other top ranked wrestler was Brad Padgett,
who moved up to sixth place at 184-pounds. Padgett recently won
the 184-pound crown at the 2008 NCAA Division II North Regional.
