Copsey and Long Place at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Ty Copsey finished fourth and Mike Long finished eighth Saturday at the
conclusion of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Cedar
Falls, Iowa.
At 197, Copsey entered the day in the semifinal match versus Donovan
McMahill of Western State. McMahill won the match, 5-4, to send Copsey
to the wrestleback bracket, where he wrestled Nicolas Wilkes of St.
Cloud State. Tied 1-1 after regulation, Copsey and Wilkes then went two
full overtime periods before Copsey was awarded the victory on his
second overtime riding time advantage. In the third place match, Copsey
dropped a close decision to Jacob Marrs of Nebraska-Omaha, 4-2.
At 149, Long entered the day in the wrestleback third round versus Ryan
Etherton of Nebraska-Kearney. Etherton pinned Long in 25 seconds to
send him to the seventh place match, where Long lost to Zack McKendree
of Gannon, 8-3.
