Hoffman Drops Into Consolation Bracket, Adams and Bryce Eliminated

ST. LOUIS -- North Dakota State
senior Eric Hoffman dropped into the consolation bracket with a 6-3
loss to No. 1-ranked Angel Escobedo of Indiana in the second round of
the NCAA Division I wrestling championships Thursday night.
Hoffman won his opening match at 125 pounds 14-6 over Oklahoma's
15th-ranked Joey Fio in Thursday's first round. He will take a 15-4
record into Friday morning's loser-out match against No. 20-ranked
Javier Maldonado of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
NDSU sophomore Ryan Adams was eliminated at 149 pounds with a loss by
fall to No. 18-ranked Josh Wagner of Missouri, who pinned Adams in 1
minute. Adams lost by 11-2 major decision in the first round to No.
5-ranked Josh Churella of Michigan. He finished the year 11-5.
NDSU junior Jacob Bryce was eliminated at 197 pounds with an 11-5 loss
to Lamar Brown of Rutgers. Bryce lost by fall in the first round to No.
5-ranked Dallas Herbst of Wisconsin, who pinned Bryce in 25 seconds. He
finished the year 15-12.
There are 32 wrestlers competing in the 125-pound weight class, 32 at
149 pounds, and 33 at 197 pounds. The double-elmination tournament
continues through Saturday.
