Dragon Hall of Fame Banquet
October 17, 2008
Coaches and teammates gathered to honor four new MSU Moorhead Athletic
Hall of Fame members on October 4th at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and
Suites in Moorhead. Two of the inductees were wrestlers Nate
Hendrickson and Jason Sjostrom.
"Those two were the most influential under John Sterner's revival
efforts that brought Dragon Wrestling back from the graveyard," said
former assistant coach Spencer Yohe. "Several more from those teams are
headed for future hall of fame banquets in Dragon Country, in the likes
of Keenan Spiess, Bob Olson, Tyler Trieglaff, Travis Nagel, Pete
Dickinson, Tommy Grafstrom, Scott Larson, Steve Ricard, and others."
DRAGON HALL OF FAME
In 1961, Minnesota State University Moorhead's Dragon Hall of Fame was
created and its first member, the legendary "Sliv" Nemzek was inducted.
Athletic performance while a student is the primary consideration in
selecting inductees being honored for their personal athletic
accomplishments and coaches who are inducted must have had outstanding
careers. Ability and success must be demonstrated through leadership,
honors, and relevant statistics related to athletic competition.
Non-athletic activities are also used as criteria and include both
professional accomplishments and a record of community service.
