Mavericks Rated #1 in NSIC Coaches Poll

Mankato, Minn. -- League coaches have rated Minnesota State #1 in the 2008-09 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coaches’ Preseason Wrestling Poll.

The Mavericks received four first place votes and totalled 55 points in finishing atop the eight-team list.

MSU, which returns 13 letterwinners from last year’s team, racked up a 20-1-1 record in 2007-08 and in addition to finishing second at the NCAA Division II national tournament, also earned a National Duals championship and a NCAA North Central Region championship.

The Mavericks are scheduled to open the 2008-09 season Nov. 15 at the Harold Nichols Open in Ames, Iowa.
