
Huskies ink New Jersey native to National Letter of Intent

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo announced the signing of Mark Maestrey
of Toms River South High School (NJ) to a National Letter of Intent to
compete for the Huskies during 2009-10 season Tuesday morning.
“We are very excited to have Mark on board,” said Costanzo. “Mark is a
flat-out pinner, capable of turning anyone at anytime. He will be
happily welcomed to our lower weight classes.”
Maestrey is projected to compete at the 125-pound weight class.
In 2007-08, he was a district champion, region runner-up and NJSIAA
state place winner while marking a record of 36-6. His career
record currently stands at 80-19 heading into his senior season.
Maestrey is currently ranked as the 30th recruit in the country in his
respective weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine.
Maestrey is the son of Arnaldo and Rosemarie Maestrey residing in Toms
River, New Jersey. An honor roll student, Maestrey is currently
interested in a criminal justice major.
The Huskies will continue their 2008-09 season this Friday at the
Cobber Open in Moorhead, Minn. The first round of matches is scheduled
to start at 9:00 a.m.
