Thursday, November 20, 2008
St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University
head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo announced the signing of Trent
Herold of St. Francis High School to a National Letter of Intent and
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tender to compete for the
Huskies during 2009-10 season Wednesday morning.
“Trent is an outstanding addition to our squad,” said Costanzo. “He has
had an outstanding high school career so far and comes from a
traditionally strong high school. I am very excited to have the
opportunity to work with him.”
Herold is projected to compete at the 125-pound or 133-pound weight
class. He is a past high school state place winner, finishing fifth in
2007 and fourth in 2008 at the MSHSL Championships. He is 80-10 the
last two seasons and has a career mark of 149-28 heading into his
senior campaign.
Herold is the son of Perry and Kathy Herold residing in East Bethel,
Minn. An honor roll student, Herold is currently undecided with his
major.
The Huskies compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and
they are an NCAA Division II affiliate. Under the leadership of
Costanzo, who begins his third season at SCSU in 2008-08, the Huskies
posted an impressive 13-2 dual match record in 2007-08. SCSU also
placed 12th in the nation as a team at the 2008 NCAA Division II
championships.
