NDSU drops matches to Rider and Penn at Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. - The North Dakota State wrestling team lost to No. 22
Penn, 33-3, in the first round of the Virginia Duals on Friday. The
Bison lost its second match of the Virginia Duals to Rider, 35-7.
NDSU will conclude Virginia Duals action against Ohio. The Bison
are now 2-4-1 on the season, having dropped their last three straight
duals.

Senior Gabriel Mooney won a 6-4 decision over Fred Rodgers at 141
pounds, while junior Ryan Adams won his 149 pound clash in a 10-2 major
decision over Aaron Nestor. Adams currently leads the team with a
17-7 record.

NDSU falls to Penn in first round of Virginia Duals
The Quakers came in with three nationally ranked wrestlers: No. 7
Rollie Peterkin at 125, No. 10 Cesar Grajales at 149 and No. 13 Matt
Dragon at 157.
Senior Adam Aho recorded the only victory for the Bison at 165 pounds, defeating Andrew Coles 4-0.
At 157, Vince Salminen had a close match, but came out on the losing
enad of an 11-9 decision to No. 13 Matt Dragon. Kenny Moenkedick
also dropped a close 4-3 contest to Colin Hitschler at 184 pounds.
