Mavericks Dominate in Regular Season Finale

Kirksville, Mo. -- The third-ranked Minnesota State wrestling team finished the regular season strong by defeating Truman State in dual action Saturday, 55-0.
In the 125-pound match MSU sophomore Andy Forstner (Madelia, Minn.) pinned his opponent in the third period in 6:04.
Senior Tim Haneberg (Tinley Park, Ill.) defeated his opponent in the 133-pound match by major decision, 10-1.
Senior John Putman (Oak Lawn, Ill.), ranked #2, finished his
regular-season career off by defeating his opponent with a major
decision finish, 12-4.
In the 149-pound match, second-ranked sophomore Tommy Abbott (Wilmington, Del.) pinned his opponent in :39.
Sixth-ranked 157-pound junior Travis Elg (Mountain Lake, Minn.),
165-pound senior Tim Matheson (Circle Pines, Minn.) and 174-pound
junior Ben Becker (Fort Dodge, Iowa) all defeated their opponents by
pin-fall.
In the 184-pound match, Aaron Norgren (Good Thunder, Minn.) defeated his opponent by major decision, 16-5
Sixth-ranked 197-pounder Pat Mahan (Owatonna, Minn.) earned a tech-fall victory over his opponent 1:39 into the match.
Second-ranked junior and 285-pounder Brady Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) concluded the evening with a win by decision, 4-1.
Minnesota State (12-4, 7-0 NSIC) will defend their regional title, Sunday, March 1 in Marshall, Minn.
