No. 3 Minnesota State Handles Mustangs

MANKATO, Minn. - No. 3 Minnesota State, Mankato
took two wins by fall and three by technical fall to hand the Southwest
Minnesota State wrestling team a 42-3 conference loss Friday night in
Mankato.
MSU improves to 8-3 (5-0 NSIC), while SMSU drops to 2-4 (1-2 NSIC).
Wrestling started at 125 pounds where MSUs Andy Forstner snuck by
SMSU's Jordan Rozeboom 4-2. It was the first of seven straight bouts
that the Mavericks would take from the Mustangs.
At 133 pounds MSU's Tim Haneberg grabbed a 6-2 decision from Michal Barrie.
The next four bouts resulted in major points for the nationally ranked
Mavericks as they compiled 21 points, taking one win by major decision,
another by technical fall and a pair by fall.
Tyler Johnson picked up the only win of the night for SMSU at 184 pounds with a 7-6 decision over Aaron Nogren.
SMSU's final two matches resulted in losses via technical falls.
The Mustangs are back in action on Feb. 7 when they host St. Cloud State in a 2 p.m. conference dual.
