St. Cloud State University Charts 35-6 Win at MSU, Moorhead

Moorhead, Minn. - The #8 St. Cloud State University wrestling team posted a 35-6 victory at NSIC rival Minnesota State, Moorhead on Friday, Jan. 29. The victory moves SCSU's record this season to 10-6, 2-1 NSIC, while the Dragons fall to 3-9, 1-4 NSIC.

The match started at 141-pounder Chad Schultz of SCSU charting a 4:30 pin over Brady Scheeberger of MSUM. The Dragons gained one of their two wins on the night at 149-pounds as Derek Bomstad edged Jacob Horn of SCSU 5-4.

At 157-pounds, SCSU's #8 ranked John Sundgren made quick work of MSUM's Tallen Wald with a pin at 0:52. Adam Minnette than posted a 12-3 major decision over Tyler Kivel of MSUM to give SCSU a 16-3 lead.

SCSU went on to build its lead with wins at 174-pounds by Shamus O'Grady and a pin at 184-pounds by #5 Derek Skala. #6 Lucas Munkelwitz also added a 5-1 win over Jon Swart of MSUM at 197-pounds, while #6 Jacob Kahnke posted a 9-6 win over Tim Johnson of MSUM at 285-pounds.

MSUM's second win came at 125-pounds with a 4-2 victory by Corey Ulmer over Trent Herold of SCSU. The Huskies capped the night with a 7-4 victory by Shane McQuade over MSUM's Evan Forde at 133-pounds.

SCSU will continue its season with a Feb. 5 match at Mary and a Feb. 6 match at Northern State.
