North Dakota State Wrestling Falls to Northern Iowa, 30-6

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - The North Dakota State wrestling
team fell to Northern Iowa, 30-6, in a Western Wrestling Conference
dual on Sunday. The Bison are now 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the WWC.
UNI took an early 9-0 lead after a win at 125 pounds and a forfeit win at 133 pounds.
Senior Ryan Adams cut the deficit to 9-3 after winning a 6-2 decision
over Charlie Ettelson at 141 pounds. Adams had two takedowns and a
reversal in the win.
The Panthers then reeled off four straight decisions to take a commanding 21-3 lead.
Junior Kenny Moenkedick snapped the streak at 184 pounds when he
claimed an 8-6 sudden victory decision over Scott Hazen. With the score
tied at 6-6 going into the sudden victory period, Moenkedick took down
Hazen 34 seconds into the period to take the win.
UNI then won the final two bouts of the day, including a pin at heavyweight, to claim the 30-6 conference win.
The Bison return to Fargo to host WWC foe South Dakota State Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the final dual meet of the year.
