In Memorium - Robert R. Yohe

Many in the wrestling community were saddened Friday morning of the State Tournament to learn of the passing of Spencer Yohe's father. Our thoughts and prayers go to Spencer and his family and friends.

Robert Russell 'Bob' Yohe of rural Caledonia and Houston, MN went to be with his Lord, Jesus, on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in LaCrosse.

He was born in Collins, Iowa on May 19, 1919 to Roy and Ada (Harmon) Yohe. In 1941, Bob joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II as a staff sergeant in Africa, Italy,Corseca and Sicily for 32 months from 1942 until 1945. On Sept. 12, 1942, he married Alvina Protsman in Trenton, NJ.

After his return from service, Bob farmed in Lansing, Iowa, for 10 years. He moved to rural Houston in April 1955, where he continued farming for many years and was still helping his sons, James and Robert Jr. put in the crops. Survivors include his wife, Alvina; one daughter, Gloria (Jim) Robinson of nebraska; three sons, Spencer of Hancock, Minnesota, Robert Jr. (Karen) of Caledonia and James (Deb) of Houston. He has ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Spencer, a Minnesota Wrestling Hall of Famer, has been a long time coach, member of the coaches association, contributor to The Guillotine and USA Wrestling magazine, and has been instrumental in the Minnesota Hall of Fame selections as well as the National Hall of Fame recognition program in Minnesota.

Visitation for Robert R. Yohe Sr. was held Tuesday, March 1, 2005, and funeral serices were at 2 PM, Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Caledonia. Service and visitation at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main Street, Caledonia, MN. 507-725-3838.
