Dr. Bill O. Manning passed away peacefully on February 22, 2007 in
Tucson, AZ.
Manning coached Wayzata High School to three state championships (1951,
1952, and 1953) in four years, along with a runner up finish in the one
class system.
Bill will enter posthumously into The National Wrestling Hall of Fame
as the Outstanding American from Minnesota at the induction banquet on
April 14, 2007 in Owatonna, MN. His family will accept on his behalf.
Bill, a member of The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association Dave
Bartelma Hall of Fame, also officiated for fifteen years at the high
school and collegiate level.
Bill was an outstanding drug education counselor and consultant. He has
appeared at The Betty Ford Center and was a finalist for The Marty Mann
Award.
Bill coached Major General Kenneth Leuer, a two-time NCAA National
Champion at The University of Iowa, who has also been honored by The
National Wrestling Hall Of Fame.
An additional celebration of his life will be held at Holy Name of
Jesus Church in Wayzata, MN on April 13th. Arrangements and time are to
be announced.
