July 23, 2009
When Jeff Blatnick won a gold medal in the super heavyweight division
at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles it was one of the most
inspirational moments in sports history. After he won the title
Blatnick, who had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1982,
dropped to his knees in prayer following his win in the finals.
Blatnick had been in radiation therapy months prior to his win and
tells his story to Wrestling 411 and you too can learn it all by

Following a second battle with cancer, Blatnick turned his attention to
television commentary. He called the action for numerous Olympics and
was the color commentary for the UFC from 1994 to 2001. He is a
champion and continues to meet challenges declaring he is a “wrestler”
