Kuhlman breaks career wins record

February 1, 2003

Medford's Mitch Kuhlman picked up three pins in the Wabasha-Kellogg Duals to break the state record for victories. He pushed his career victory total to 220, two more than Marcus LeVesseur established at Minneapolis Roosevelt and Bloomington Kennedy in 2001.

Kuhlman tied the mark of 218 by pinning Blue Earth Area's Tony Boehm in 23 seconds, and became the record holder by pinning St. Michael-Albertville's Luke Vetsch at 1:08. He finished the day pinning Shakopee's Tom Breeggemann in 2:30.

Kuhlman, a two-time state champion, currently has 122 pins which puts him third on the list of career pins behind 1991 graduate Chad Stender of Browerville (132 pins) and 1996 graduate Dan Duncombe of St. Michael-Albertville (127 pins).
