notes: Florida's #2 rated (large schools) squad, featuring
returning state champs at 130 and 160, rallied as they dominated the
middle and upper weights, after Maple Grove jumped to an 18 point
lead with first periord falls at heavyweight, 103 and 112. The match
of the day saw MG's returning state place-winner, Erik Healy (11-0)
move up a weight class to face a defending Florida champ, in
Manatee's Bobby Latessa. Latessa (12-0) also claimed a national title
last spring at the National Coaches Assn. Tournament. The match was
everything you could ask for with action the entire 6 minutes and
into overtime, with the score tied at four all. Following a wild
scramble, Latessa scored the winning takedown.
