Benson held off Barnesville by placing 13 of 14 wrestlers and 3 champions. Adam Carruth and Scott Thompson each won individual titles to keep their records perfect on the season. Barnesville placed 12 of 14 and ahd 4 individual titles. Kirk Anderson continued to dominate his competions by posting to first period falls for a total time of 86 seconds.125 Matt Arvidson (PP) brought his unblemished record to the tournament only to have Brian Wood (CI) touch him for his first defeat on the year. Coach Lyle Fruedenberg brought a nice young squad and placed all 14 wrestlers to finish third, out of this field this was the only team to place all 14 weight classes. Two of the most exciting mathces of the finals were 160, and 215. 160 Scott Thompson (Ben) had to use a takedown late in overtime to avoid going to the flip against Isaac Dorn (PP). And likewise at 215, Travis Bjerketvedt secured his takedown early in his overtime match to hold off Mike Cox (Bar). All in all this was a very competitive tournament with many great matchups. Congratulations to all the champions, and to the Benson Braves for winning the team title. This tournament also had co most valuable wrestlers. They were 125 Brian Wood (CI) and 215 Travis Bjerketvedt (PP). Also kudos to all that helped put this tournament on, JOB WELL DONE.
