Ness and Wilson place second at NHSCA High School Senior National Championships

Team Minnesota placed seventh at the NHSCA High School Senior National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio April 1-3, 2005. Minnesota had five All-Americans including two finalists.
University of Minnesota recruit Jayson Ness (Bloomington Kennedy) won his first five matches before running into Troy Nickerson of New York in the 125 pound championship. Nickerson is New York's first five-time state champion He is the top ranked 125 pounder in all major wrestling rankings and he has signed to wrestle for Cornell next year. Ness wrestled a close match, but Nickerson came out on top 6-4.
Unranked Heavyweight Brady Wilson of Faribault was Minnesota's other finalist. Wilson stormed into the finals to take on top-ranked Drake McCoy of Georgia. But McCoy proved to be too much for Wilson as McCoy won 7-1.
Minnesota had three eighth place finishers earning All-American honors -- Dan O'Neill of Monticello (103 pounds), Ryan Adams of Coon Rapids (130 pounds), and Nate Matousek of Glencoe-Silver Lake (160 pounds).
David Albrecht of Woodbury and Richard Fessler of Apple Valley were both one win away from being All-Americans at 135 pounds.
