The Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award is presented by the
National Wrestling Hall of Fame annually to a high school senior. The
award is based equally on outstanding wrestling success, scholastic
achievement and citizenship or community service.
Winners of the prestigious honor are chosen at the state and
regional levels. The national winner will be recognized at the
Wrestling Hall of Fame's Honors Weekend in Stillwater, Okla. in
June.
The Hall of Fame has announced its state winners. Each of these
outstanding high school student-athletes have distinguished
themselves within their state. All become eligible for the Regional
and National honor.
The Hall of Fame will announce its five
Regional winners during USA Wrestling's United States National
Championships weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. They will be recognized on
Friday, April 29 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The national Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award winner will
be announced in May.
This awards program is named in the honor of the late Dave
Schultz, an Olympic and World champion, who set an example for
excellence, both on and off the mat. Dave's wife Nancy Schultz has
played an important role in supporting this awards program.
