Central Minnesota Mat Rats preseason news

The are several new coaches in the Central Minnesota for the 2004-2005 wrestling season. At Paynesville Tim Woehler will be the new head coach taking over for the legendary Virg Vagle. He has been with the program eight years as head of the Bulldogs Junior High program. Tim was previously assistant coach at Blooming Prairie and he is from Arlington-Green Isle where he wrestled and in College he competed for River Falls, WI.

At Annandale/Maple Lake Dean Jennissen has taken over the head coaching position replacing the retiring long time coach Bruce Bartels. Coach Jennissen has previously coached at Dassel Cokato and Osakis. Coach Jennissen is a Staples-Motley graduate. He is the Middle School principal at Annandale. Two new assistants for Annandale are Nathan Hanson, he formerly was an assistant at Glencoe-Silver Lake and is a Jackson County Central and Mankato State University graduate. Steve Kosloski ,a Mankato State University and Wisconsin native, is also a new assistant for Coach Jennissen.

At Wheaton-Herman/Norcross Pat Holm is the new head coach as Marty Lanter took the Head coaching job at Breckenridge. Coach Holm has previously coached at Deer River and Lake Park/Audubon. He is a Barnesville graduate where he did wrestle. Coach Holm is teaching Math at the Herman/Norcross Schools.

At Breckenridge Marty Lanter has taken over for Lynn Jennissen as head coach. He was head coach for two years and assistant for two years. Coach Lanter is the Band and Music Instructor at Breckenridge.

At Princeton Mark Hayes took over for Shane Eastman as Head Coach. He was formerly an assistant at Burnsville and Head Coach at Redwood Valley. He is a Tracy High School Graduate. Coach Hayes has a new assistant coach Nate Radke formerly coached at South St. Paul and he was also a Tracy High School graduate. Coach Hayes and Radke were captions of the Tracy team their senior years.

At Rush City Tim Bowland took over for Kevin Jensen as Head Coach. He was formerly head coach at Greenbush/Middle River/Badger and he is a Parkers Prairie graduate.

At Rockford Jerry Weyer comes out of retirement to take over for Nathan Whiting. Jerry had a very successful run as head coach at Rockford. He has been out of coaching over ten years.

At Ogilvie Gary Baker comes out of retirement to co-coach with Brian Sjodin. Gary had a very successful run as head coach at Ogilvie back in the 80's. Gary has done a great deal of officiating thru the 90's.

At Sauk Centre Bill Dahmer former Litchfield assistant coach is now teaching Math at the Sauk Centre Public schools. He is a former St. Michael-Albertville wrestler.

At Foley they have a new assistant coach Lynn Jennissen; Lynn moved from Breckenridge where he was head coach for three seasons and prior to that an assistant coach at Cambridge and a St. Johns and he from Staples-Motley High School.

At Belgrade/Brooten-Elrosa Mike Richards a former Moorhead State and Wadena-Deer Creek graduate is the new Junior High coach.

At Rocori Chuck Griffith a former St. Johns and Morris Area/Hancock wrestler is a new Junior High Coach under Paul Court.

At Morris Area/Hancock Spencer Yohe will be Co-Head Coach with Mike Polzer his assistant coach.

At Fergus Falls Matt Aho is back to be assistant coach with his uncle Mark Aho. Also Fergus Falls is now in Section 7AA because they dropped their pairing with Hillcrest.

At West Central Area Travis Nagel will be an assistant to Nels Onstad; Travis is an elementary teacher at West Central.

At Moorhead the Spuds have a new assistant coach Caleb Schlack a former Moorhead State and Litchfield wrestler. He replaces Dylon Faber.

The BOLD Warriors have a new assistant Chris Gunderson an Iowa native.

At Buffalo the Bison have a new assistant coach Dave Maculm; he is a former Bison wrestler.

Howard Lake Waverly/Winsted has formed a coop with Lester Prairie at present they are assigned to section 5AA; but is thought that they will be in Section 5A when they meet criteria. They will still be wrestling all of the Central Minnesota Conference schedule.

The Zimmerman Thunder are a new member of the Rum River Conference this season; they are coached by Steve Vevea of Elk River.

The Royalton Royals and Upsala have recently formed a Coop; more details on this later.
