Sanders gives verbal commitment to wrestle for the Gophers
May 12, 2006
Wabasha-Kellogg wrestler Zach Sanders has given a verbal commitment to
attend and wrestle for the University of Minnesota in 2007-2008.
Sanders won his fourth Minnesota high school state title this year as a
junior. He completed the season with a perfect 49-0 record and is 179-5
in his career. Zach has only one high school loss since he was in
eighth grade.
He won his first title as a 103 pound eighth grader in 2003. He
followed that up with another 103 pound title in 2004. Last year Zach
bumped to 112 pounds and took home the gold.
He is a USA Wrestling Cadet National Champion in folkstyle, freestyle
and Greco-Roman, a Junior All-American in freestyle and Greco-Roman,
and a NHSCA Junior National Champion.
Intermat's Final 2005-06 InterMat High School Junior Individual Rankings ranks Sanders as the top 112 pounder in the nation.

Sanders (top) is on track to join his brother Eric and Matt Nagel as Minnesota’s next five-time state champion.
