Hall of Fame

Three former Hibbing Bluejackets are being inducted into the Hibbing
High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, July 7th at 4 PM at the
historic Hibbing High School Auditorium.
Wayne Johnson, coach of the
Bluejackets for 20 years, along with Tim
Tekautz and David Calliguri
will be part of the ceremony. Numerous other Bluejacket standouts are
members including NBA great Kevin McHale!
Johnson, a two-time region champion for Grand Rapids High School in the
1960's, coached seven state champions at Hibbing along with numerous
other state placewinners in the individuals and team competition.
Johnson was a former president of the State Coaches Association,
All-Star Team coach, writer for the Guillotine and is a member of
the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association Dave Bartelma Wrestling
Hall of Fame.
Tekautz was a dominant heavyweight for the Bluejackets in the late
1980's where he was a two-time state champion. He went on to wrestle at
NDSU where he was an All-American.
Calliguri dominated the lower weights where he earned 70 straight
victories for the Bluejackets on his way to winning two
state championships in the mid 1980's. Calliguri was also an
All-American for NDSU.
