On August 28, 2006, Torrey Line, son of Mike and Kim Line, and an
incoming senior at Browerville High School, was diagnosed with Osteo
Genic Sarcoma-a form of cancer-in the femur bone of his left leg
On September 12, 2006, Torrey began an aggressive form of chemotherapy
at Fairview University Children’s Hospital on a weekly basis. Because
of this treatment, Torrey has been unable to physically attend classes
at Browerville High School or participate in athletics where he has
been a valuable member of the Tiger Football team and a gifted wrestler
for the Browerville-Eagle Valley Broncos.
On December 7, Torrey had surgery to remove approximately six inches
from his femur bone and also had a complete knee replacement. He will
spend most of December recovering from surgery and will resume
chemotherapy treatments in January 2007.
The 2006 Tiger Volleyball team is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner benefit
for Torrey and his family on Friday, January 12, 2007. The benefit will
be held at Browerville High School from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Freewill donations will be appreciated to help Torrey and his family
with medical, travel and lodging expenses. Matching funds have been
applied for by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
