Central Minnesota Mat Rats Report (12th Annual)

Central Minnesota's Top Class AAA Teams

1. CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS
The Blue Jackets dominated three teams at their quadrangular with wins over Champlin Park 46-19, Chisago Lakes 69-0 and Princeton 69-0. Matt O'onnor, Tony Nelson, Chad Larson, Alex Geving, Clayton Jennissen, Scott Gifford, Eric Elmstrand and Ross Dankers were all 3-0 at the quadrangular. They turned in a very good performance to earn third place at the Kiffmeyer Duals with wins over Elk River 50-13 and for third highly ranked North Dakota team Wahpeton 45-15. They dropped their semifinal match to Albert Lea 50-18. The Blue Jackets earned second place at their dual meet invitational with a huge win over Section 7AAA rival Forest Lake 38-16 in the quarter-finals and Section 3AAA power Simley 28-25 in the semifinals. They dropped the Championship to the No. 1AA ranked Scott West 39-19. Tony Nelson, Matt O'onnor and Garret Olson were all unbeaten at the tourney.

2. WILLMAR CARDINALS
The Cardinals topped two Central Lakes Conference foes Brainerd 35-27 and St. Cloud Apollo 44-24. They dropped a close match to Lean and Mean AA rival Litchfield 39-27. The Cardinals had a good showing at their quadrangular with a win over Section 5AA foe Glencoe-Silver Lake/LP 36-28 and they dropped a pair of duals to a pair Lean and Mean foes, AA rival New London-Spicer 38-24 and AAA St. Francis 36-27. Drew Larson, Brandt Haglund, Brandon Reickman and Adam Kramar all great showings at the quadrangular with perfect 3-0 marks. The Cardinals topped Central Lakes Conference Rocori 34-28 and they came up just a little short against conference foe Fergus Falls 34-28 in a very good dual. They had a great tourney at Eden Prairie with 176.5 points to earn second place with ten wrestlers placing in the top four. Drew Larson, Trent Malocek and Brandon Reickman all had great tourneys as they all won championships. Adam Kremer earned second place and Nick Dahlke, Eric Borgas, Nick Braun, Marshall Swoyer all had great showings to earn third places. Adam Fagestrom and Cody Stegeman both took fourth place for the Cardinals.

3. BRIANERD WARRIORS
The Warriors split a pair of Central Lakes Conference foes, they topped Rocori 61-18 and lost to Willmar 35-27. The Warriors had an impressive showing at the Monticello duals with three dual meet victories over Blaine 48-15, Park of Cottage Grove 36-36 (Criteria) and No. 11 AAA ranked Monticello 37-26. They did lose to AAA Lean and Mean and tourney champions Prior Lake 45-17. Tyler Jensen and Nate Rubin were both 4-0 and Brandon Mutz, Scott Padrnos and Jake Patnode were all 3-1 at the Monticello Duals.

4. ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS
The Cardinals split a pair of Central Lakes Duals as they defeated St. Cloud Apollo 44-26 and lost to Little Falls 31-27. They topped Sauk Centre 43-28 and dropped a close one to Minnewaska 31-27. In the Cardinal quadrangular Charlie Kirscht, Tanner Weltzin, John Amundson and Mike Kirscht were all unbeaten. The Cardinals had a solid performance at the Monticello Duals with wins over Hopkins 51-21 and Rocori 57-18. They dropped a close one to No. 11 AAA ranked Monticello 36-31 and Park of Cottage Grove 40-24. Charlie and Mike Kirscht and Tanner Weltzin were all 4-0 and Taylor Murical, John Amundson, Lucas and Josh Betterman all had good days as they all went 3-1 at the Monticello duals. The Cardinals topped two Section 8AAA foes at their Triangular meet with wins over Elk River 37-34 and Moorhead 44-29. They dropped a pair of duals to Section 8AAA foe Bemidji 40-27 and to Class A rival Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 49-27.

5. BUFFALO BISON
The Bison earned third place at the Annandale/Maple Lake Lightning Duals with a first round win over Sauk Rapids 39-29 and for third place they topped AA foe Windom Area 47-23. They did drop their semifinal match to NO. 6AA ranked Annandale/Maple Lake 41-13. David Baker and Tim Ruter were both unbeaten at the Lightning Duals.

6. SAUK RAPIDS STORM
The Storm dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to rival Sartell 50-21. They won one dual at the Annandale/Maple Lake Lightning Duals with over New Prague 34-33. They dropped their first round dual to Buffalo 39-29 and the fifth place match to Waconia 40-34. The Storm were minus at least four varsity starters in the event due to injuries and conflicts. Shane Fesenmaier, Mike Hines, Evan Warnert, Mitch Rau and Zach Rudolph were all unbeaten at the Lightning Duals.

7. ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES
The Eagles dropped a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals to Alexandria 44-26 and Willmar 44-24. They topped Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud Tech 53-18 and they lost to No. 11AAA ranked Monticello 45-24. The Eagles had a very good showing at the Kiffmeyer Duals where they earned fifth place with wins over Lean and Mean and Section 8AAA foe Elk River 34-33 and for Fifth place topped rival St. Cloud Tech 45-18. Justin Pulliam and Alex Gill were both 3-0 at the Kiffmeyer Duals. The Eagles topped Section 7AA foe North Branch 51-22 to earn seventh place at the Cambridge-Isanti Duals. They dropped their consolation semifinal match to Lean and Mean Centennial 39-26. In the quarter-finals they lost to the No. 1 AA ranked Scott West 63-12. Alex Gill and Matt Spoden both had great tourneys as they went unbeaten.

8. ELK RIVER ELKS
The Elks dropped a North West Suburban Conference dual to rival Anoka. They earned fifth place at the Kiffmeyer Duals with a win over Hutchinson 39-29. The Elks dropped their first round match to Cambridge-Isanti 50-13 and their consolations Semifinals to St. Cloud Apollo 34-33. Tyler Stevens, Holten Lubinski and Tyler Hemmesch were all 3-0 at the Kiffmeyer Duals. The Elks split a pair of Section 8AAA duals with Alexandria they lost a close one 37-34 and topped Moorhead 33-32. The Elks topped Maple Grove 50-12 in a Northwest Suburban Conference dual.

9. Chisago Lake Wildcats
The Wildcats dropped a very close match to North Suburban Conference foe Spring Lake Park 35-33. They topped former Rum River Conference foe Princeton 46-21 and they dropped two duals at the Cambridge-Isanti quadrangular to Champlin Park 58-12 and Cambridge-Isanti 69-0. The Wildcats had a good showing at the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguar Invitational with 162.5 points for third place. The had seven wrestlers earn top four places including a pair of championships by Mike Michaelson and Troy Montague. Travis Kammerer and Tony Gall both had great tourneys to earn second places, Derek Silbernagel earned third place and John Barwin took fourth place. The Wildcats topped Class A Lean and Mean Mille Lacs 39-35 and Hinckley-Finlayson 43-27. They had a great dual to top North Suburban rival Irondale 48-26.

10. MOORHEAD SPUDS
The Spuds dropped their first round dual at the Gadberry Duals to Coon Rapids 45-19. They lost their consolation semifinal match to Dickinson 51-12 and their seventh place match to Mandan in a good dual 40-30. Justin LaValle was the lone Spud that was unbeaten at the Gadberry Duals. They dropped a very good dual to AA rival Fergus Falls 35-28 and Highway Ten neighbor Detroit Lakes 46-19. The Spuds dropped a pair of Section 8AAA duals to Alexandria 44-29 and to Elk River 33-32.

11. NORTH BRANCH VIKINGS
The Vikings topped North Suburban Conference foe Fridley 66-16 and Class A rival Braham 47-21. The Vikings dropped three duals at the Cambridge-Isanti Duals with losses to No. 6AAA Simley 58-9, No. 7AAA ranked Forest Lake 61-15 and for seventh place they dropped a dual to AAA foe St. Cloud Apollo 52-22. Eric Kostik was 3-0 for the Vikings at the tourney.

12. ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS
The Tigers dropped Central Lakes Conference duals to Fergus Falls 61-4, St. Cloud Apollo 53-18 and Little Falls 67--3. They dropped a non-conference dual to No. 11AAA ranked Monticello 71-6. The Tigers earned sixth place at the Kiffmeyer Duals with a very exciting dual meet win over Hutchinson 39-31. They dropped their quarterfinal match to No. 2AAA ranked Hastings 70-6 and to cross town rival for fifth place St. Cloud Apollo 45-18. The Tigers earned third place at the Hawk Duals at St. Paul Humboldt with three wins over Mahtomedi 56-15, Cretin-Derham Hall 69-6 and St. Paul Humboldt 51-30. They dropped duals to Northfield 46-20 and Lakeville South 46-20. Chris Hoppe, Luke Laudenbach, Mitch Voigt, Yaric Dmytrochenko and Ethan Kellner were all 4-1 on the day.

Central Minnesota's Top Class AAA Teams

1. SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS
The Knights had a very impressive performance as they topped Mississippi 8 and No. 8AA ranked Big Lake 39-18. They had a strong showing at the Paynesville tourney where they earned 238 points for the Championship just edging out Watertown, South Dakota No. 4 state ranked by 28 points. The Knights won six championships including: David Thorn, Ross Lefebrve, Alex Becker, Joe Grygelko, Kyle Schumm and Kraig Schumm. Jordan Kampa and Austi Kolles both had great tourneys to earn seconds and Brian Zachman, Jake Horn and Jon Laudner all earned third places and Justin Oie took fourth place. The Knights topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Monticello 42-12, winning eleven matches. They topped AAA Totino Grace 52-18 and Section 4AA rival South St. Paul 72-12. The Knights had a very impressive showing the Hutchinson tourney with 225.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four. They won the championship over Jackson County Central the No. 2AA ranked team with four championships by David Thorn, Alex Becker, Joe Grygelko and Kyle Schumm. Brian Zachman, Ross Lefebvre, Austin Kolles and Jake Horn had great tourneys to earn second places. Jordan Campa, Jon Laudner and Kyle Salonek were equally impressive by earning third places and Kraig Schumm took fourth place.

2. BIG LAKE HORNETS
The Hornets dropped a Mississippi Conference 8 dual to No. 3AA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 39-18. They turned in a very strong performance at the Hutchinson tourney with 207.5 points and twelve wrestlers placing in the top four. They finished ahead of the No. 2AA ranked Jackson County Central as they advanced four wrestlers to the finals with Matt Nelson winning the only championship and Aaron Stolp, Ben Brown and Casey Kern had impressive tourneys to earned seconds. Justin Nelson, Dan Brown, Tyler Sonenstahl, Justin Haag, Tee Baker and Zach Peterson also had great tourneys to earn third places. Aaron Mevissen and Josh Ladin both took fourth place. The Hornets crushed AAA ranked and Mississippi 8 Conference foe Monticello 36-22.

3. FOLEY FALCONS
The Falcons had huge win over Section 6AA rival and No. 12AA ranked Milaca 38-18. They were a little drained from the hype of beating Milaca the next day they traveled to Minnewaska for their dual meet invitational the Falcons topped Minneota 42-21 in the Semifinals. In the championship they lost to No. 2AA ranked Jackson County Central 30-19. The Falcons topped AA Lean and Mean Little Falls 45-15 and Section 5AA foe Delano 48-15. They topped a very good ranked AA Annandale/Maple Lake team 39-12 and Section 5AA foe Waconia 51-9. The Falcons topped Section 6AA foe Sartell 56-12 and Central Lakes Conference AA Fergus Falls 51-14.

4. ANNANDALE/MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING
The Lightning beat Wright County Conference foes Lean and Mean BOLD/BLH 43-19 and Mound-Westonka 49-18. They earned second place the Lightning duals with their quarterfinal win over New Prague 57-12 and Semifinals win over Lean and Mean AAA Buffalo 41-13. The Lightning dropped the Championship to No. 5A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 48-12. Jake Anderson, Joe Nordlie and Chase Swenson all great tourneys to go 3-0 at the Lightning duals. They topped Section 5AA and Wright Conference foe Waconia 53-18. They Lightning dropped a dual to a Section 6AA power and state ranked Foley 39-12.

5. MILACA WOLVES
The WOLVES topped a pair of Class A foes Lean and Mean Mille Lacs 42-24 and Osakis 56-9. They did drop a huge dual to Section 6AA rival Foley 35-18 in a very good dual. The Wolves earned second place at the Centennial Duals with wins over Tartan 35-24 and Shakopee 45-17. They did drop the championship to the No. 1 ranked AAA and nationally ranked Apple Valley 63-8. Carter Ash was the lone Wolf to have won all his matches at the Centennial Duals. They topped Section 6AA rival Mora 54-17, Class A Crosby-Ironton 47-18 and St. Cloud Tech 73-3. The Wolves topped three Class AAA foes to earn second place at the Mounds View Duals with huge wins over Spring Lake Park 64-10, Minneapolis Roosevelt 81-0 and AAA Lean and Mean Mounds View 49-19. They dropped the championship match also to a AAA Lean and Mean Eagan 32-25. Denver Rogalla, Kevin Swedin, Roy Ash and Dennis Taute were all unbeaten and Carter Ash, Josh Danger, David Fradett and Mike Cain were all 3-1 on the day.

6. NEW LONDON-SPICER WILDCATS
The Wildcats topped three foes at the Willmar quadrangular with wins over rival Willmar 38-24, Section 5AA foe Glencoe-Silver Lake 37-17 and AAA Lean and Mean St. Francis 31-21 Chad Henle, Adam Luberts, Andrew Blomker, Chris DeLong and Jordan Hennes were all unbeaten at the quadrangular. They split West Central North Conference duals topping Melrose 58-15 and just coming up short against Minnewaska 28-27. They had their way with Renville County West with a big win of 56-9. The Wildcats had a very good tourney at their invitational with 222 points to earn second place, with twelve wrestlers placing in the top twelve. Billy Dean and Adam Luberts each won championships and Chad Henle, Shawn Hatlestad, Zach Borka, John Nething, Ryane Clark all earned seconds. Tom Duscher, Andrew Blomker and Brandon Keller all earned thirds and Luke Reiter and Jordan Hennes both took fourths.

7. BOLD/BUFFALO LAKE/HECTOR WARRIORS
The Warriors topped West Central South Conference foes Benson 45-18, Montevideo 54-17 and LQPV 51-9. They beat Section 5AA rival Watertown 34-25, class A Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 36-27 and Mound-Westonka 60-21. The Warriors dropped a pair of duals at the ACGC triangular to ACGC 34-24 and to No. 7A ranked Sibley East 28-22. The Warriors topped the teams at their quadrangular including Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 56-20, Delano 42-28 and LeSueur-Henderson 54-16. Tom Brenner, Pat LaVasseur, Chris Harmon and Brian Hagen were all 3-0 on the day.

8. LITTLE FALLS FLYERS
The Flyers topped Central Lakes Conference foes Alexandria 42-32, Sartell 44-26 and St. Cloud Tech 67-3. They competed in a quadrangular at Alexandria where they did top the host and Minnewaska 36-25 and Sauk Centre 43-29. Jason Brill, Steve Strack, Josh Jendro and Dylan Bue were all unbeaten at the Alexandria quadrangular. They topped Section 6AA foe Zimmerman 54-14 and section 5AA foe Delano 48-26. The Flyers did drop a dual to Section 6AA power Foley 45-15. They earned fourth place at the Mounds View Duals with wins over Maple Grove 66-14 and Columbia Heights 48-21. The Flyers dropped a pair of close duals to AAA Lean and Mean foes Eagan 40-31 and Mounds View 37-30. Josh Jendro was 4-0 with four falls, Jason Brill was 3-0, and Steve Strack and Dylan Bue were both 3-1 at the Mounds View Duals.

9. FERGUS FALLS OTTERS
The Otters have had some impressive wins with victories over Central Lakes Conference foes Willmar 34-28, Rocori 55-15, St. Cloud Tech 61-4and Sartell 50-25. They topped Class A ranked Barnesville 39-26 and AAA Moorhead 35-28. The Otters had a very good showing at the 30th annual Lake Park tourney with 170.5 points to earn second place with seven wrestlers placing in the top four. The Otters Head Coach Mark Aho was awarded the Dean Fox Sportmanship Award, he has been the Otter head coach for eleven years. They had three championships by Charlie Revering, Karl Haataja and Drew Ross. Billy Oehler and Colten Thorson both had a great tourneys to earn second place. Bryant Marquedant and Jordan Ringquist had great tourneys too earn third places. The Otters ran in to No. 8 ranked AA Foley, they came up a little short 51-14. In what was actually a good showing by the Otters.

10. Litchfield Dragons
The Dragons topped a pair of Class A foes Paynesville 34-25 and Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 46-21. They also topped Lean and Mean AAA Willmar 39-27 in a very good dual. The Dragons earned third place at the Gadberry Duals in Moorhead with a quarter-final win over Mandan, N. D. 61-14 and for third place over Lean and Mean AAA Grand Rapids 42-24. They dropped a very exciting dual to No. 9AAA ranked Coon Rapids 28-25. Damian Heariet and David Malepsy were both 3-0 at the Gadberry Duals. The Dragons topped Section 5AA and Wright County Conference foe Glencoe-Silver Lake/LP 35-20. The Dragons earned 145.5 points to take fourth place at the Hutchinson Tourney. They had seven wrestlers place in the top four including one championship by David Malepsy. Jared Flemming had a great to tourney to take second place and Jeremy Forster, Dustin Celander and Sam Pautzka all earned third place. Jake Tews and John Binsfeld both took fourth place.

11. PEQUOT LAKES/PINE RIVER/BACKUS ROAD CREW
The Road Crew have had some very impressive showings with their fourth place finish at the Rick Lee tourney in Bemidji with 139 points and seven wrestlers placing in the top four. Jesse Hernandez and Nic Harrison both had very good tourneys to earn second place and Pat Bresnahan, Adam Kish, Cody Schrupp and Chris Harrison all earned third place and Troy Griffith took fourth place. The Road Crew topped Browerville/Eagle Valley 58-18. The Crew had a very good showing at the Osakis Duals where they earned second place with wins over Albany 32-32 (Criteria) in the Semifinals and the quarterfinals over Melrose 59-15. They dropped the championship match to No. 3A ranked Aitkin 42-25. Nic Harrison was unbeaten and named Outstanding Wrestler of the tourney for his great performance. Nathan Wasloski and Pat Bresnahan also have very tourneys as they both went 3-0 at the Osakis Duals.

12. BECKER BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs topped the field of teams at their quadrangular with wins over Section 6AA rival Mora 36-31 and Class A foes Brahm 50-15 and Meadow Creek/River Academy 52-12. Brady Schrupp, Robert Koranda, Kevin O達rien, Clinton Aurentz and Cory Immerman were all have prefect nights with 3-0 marks. The Bulldogs topped Mississippi 8 Conference foe Rogers 50-12.

MINNEWASKA LAKERS
The Lakers have topped West Central North Conference foes New London-Spicer 28-27, Sauk Centre on Criteria 31-31, Albany 36-35, Paynesville 32-26 and Melrose 57-13. The Lakers won the consolation title at the Minnewaska Duals with wins over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 52-16 and Breckenridge 39-30. They did drop a very close match to Class A Lean and Mean Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 30-25.

SARTELL SABRES
The Sabres topped Central Lakes Conference rival Sauk Rapids 50-21 and Section 6AA foes Albany 37-31, Zimmerman 59-18 and Melrose 35-19. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to rival Little Falls 44-26. The Sabres earned second place at the Staples Duals with wins over Hawley 42-33 and Staples-Motley 36-34. In the championship they fell to the No. 4AA ranked Perham 66-3. Travis Lewellyn was 3-0 on the day the Staples-Motley Duals. The Sabres dropped duals to Central Lakes Conference foe Fergus Falls 50-25 and to Section 6AA foe Foley 56-12.

ALBANY HUSKIES
The Huskies topped Section 6AA rival Rocori 56-27 and West Central North Conference foe Melrose 58-15. They lost very close duals to West Central North Conference rival Minnewaska 36-35 and Section 6AA foe Sartell 37-31. The Huskies topped two foes at the Osakis duals to earn third place with wins over Class A Osakis 47-18 for third and in the quarterfinals they topped Browerville/Eagle Valley 61-15. In their semifinal match they lost a 32-32 match on criteria to Pequot Lakes/Pine River/Backus. Kurt Schlangen, Andrew Nienaber and Scott Groetsch were all 3-0 at the Osakis Duals.

Central Minnesota's Top Class A Teams

1. ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS
The Falcons topped West Central South foes BOLD/BLH 34-24, LQPV 56-8 and Morris Area/Hancock 61-6. The Falcons topped Class Norwood Young America 45-15 and AA Watertown-Mayer 45-13 in their triangular. The Falcons got beat in an excellent dual by Class A ranked Sibley East 27-26. The Falcons came back from the loss to top the field at the Annandale/Maple Lake duals with very big wins over Windom Area 43-15 and AA Waconia 67-0. In the Championship their defeated highly ranked AA Annandale/Maple 48-12. Ben Meyer, Micah Larson, David Nelson, Travis Frederiksen, Bill Wheeler, A. J. Fredericksen and Nic Leither were all unbeaten at the tourney. The Falcons had a very good showing at the New London-Spicer Tourney with 248.5 points and eleven wrestlers placing in top four. They had eight champions including, Soctt Litzau, Micah Larson, Joes Lies, David Nelson, Matt Pearson, A. J. Frederiksen, Nick Meyer and Ben Meyer. Michael Kramer earned second place and Bill Wheeler and Travis Frederiksen both took third place.

2. AITKIN GOBBLERS
The Gobblers topped Section 6A foes Pierz 42-28, Royalton 48-22, Rush City 54-17 and Crosby-Ironton 44-21. They topped AAA Grand Rapids 42-28, non-conference AA Cloquet 51-13 and AA Staples-Motley 57-18. The Gobblers had a very impressive showing at the Rick Lee tourney in Bemidji with 171.5 points to earn a tied for second with Greenbush-Middle River-Badger. They won four championships by Isaac Werner, Keith Wasserzeher, Justin Chouanard and Nick Nadeau. Brett Mlynar and Travis Hallberg both had very good tourneys to earn second places and Matt Christensen had a good tourney performance to earn third place. The Gobblers topped the field of teams at the Osakis Duals with big wins over Walker/Hackensack/Ackley/Nevis 73-6 and Osakis in the semifinals 62-6. In the championship they topped Pequot Lakes/Pine River/Backus 42-25. The Gobblers had five wrestlers with 3-0 days including Matt Christensen, Travis Hallberg, Justin Chouanard, Keith Wasserzieher and Isaac Werner.

3. YELLOW MEDICINE EAST STING
The Sting topped Section 4A rivals Renville County West 45-18, MACCRAY 57-13, Benson 51-15 and in a real close dual topped Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg 35-31. They topped the field of teams at the Kimball duals with wins over Kimball 57-10, Eden Valley-Watkins 45-19 and Class A Lean and Mean St. James 32-25. The Sting had four unbeaten wrestlers at the Kimball duals; Casey Field, Eric Dubbelde, Phhil Johnson and Sam Isfeld.

4. KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS
The Fighting Saints topped Section 4A foes LQPV 48-18 and Dawson-Boyd 56-18 and Section 5A Belgrade-Brooten/Elrosa 62-12. They did drop a very close dual to Section 4A rival Yellow Medicine East 35-31.

5. MILLE LACS RAIDERS
The Raiders topped Section 6A foes Osakis 36-34, Pierz 39-35 and Crosby Ironton. They topped Great River Conference foe Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City 57-12. The Raiders dropped duals to AA ranked Milaca 42-24 and to AAA Chisago Lakes 39-35.

6. PIERZ PIONEERS
The Pioneers topped Central Minnesota Conference foes Eden Valley-Watkins 45-22 and Rockford 57-18. They topped Section 6A foes Holdingford 53-21 and Royalton 52-27. They dropped duals to Section 6A favorite Aitkin 42-28 and Section 6A Mille Lacs 39-35 in a very close dual. The dropped a very close dual to AA Mora 36-33. The Pioneers had a good showing at the Paynesville Tourney with 131 points to earn third place with six wrestlers placing in the top four. Clint Poster won the lone championship, Hank Virnig, Tanner Tetrick and Kyle Welle had very good tourneys to earn second place. Scott Janson earned third place and Cory Egen took fourth place. The Pioneers in the quarter-finals of the Cambridge-Isanti Duals topped AAA Lean and Mean Centennial 41-32 and they dropped their semifinals to the No. 1AA team Scott West 63-9. In the third place match they lost to the No. 6AAA ranked Simley 55-19. Both Clint Poster and Hank Virnig went unbeaten at the Cambridge-Isanti Duals.

7. NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES
The Eagles topped Park Region Conference foe Osakis 53-21, Ottertail Central 47-22, Menagha-Sebeka 57-16 and Parkers Prairie 42-18. In big Section 7A duals the Eagles topped Breckenridge 39-25 and Wadena-Deer Creek 35-31

8. WHEATON-HERMAN/NORCROSS BULLETS
The Bullets topped a pair of Section 8A foes Lake Park/Audubon 50-18, Hawley 60-15 and they topped a Section 6A foe Osakis 47-22. The Bullets had an impressive showing at the Minnewaska Duals with a win over Minnewaska 30-25 in the quarterfinals. They lost a close match to highly ranked Minneota 33-28 and to No. 2AA ranked Jackson County Central 51-13. Ryan Schwagel was the lone Bullet to go unbeaten at the Minnewaska Duals. The Bullets topped Section 7A foes Wadena-Deer Creek 54-21 and West Central Area 69-9. They had a great showing in their dual in defeating AA foe Ottertail Central 48-18.

9. WADENA-DEER CREEK WOLVERINES
The Wolverines topped Mid-State Conference rival Park Rapids 43-32. They had a very good showing at the Mahnomen Duals with a quarterfinal win over Red Lake County Central 69-12 and for third place 39-33 over the host Mahnomen-Waubun. In the semifinals they dropped a 47-27 dual to highly ranked Class A Greenbush-Middle River/Badger. Kenny Steffens, Tony Wegschied and Kevin Trout all great tourneys to go 3-0 at the Mahnomen-Waubun Duals. The Wolverines dropped a section 7A duals to Wheaton/Herman/Norcross 54-21 and rival New York Mills 35-31.

10. BRECKENRIDGE COWBOYS
The Cowboys topped Section 7A foes Pelican Rapids 47-27, Parkers Prairie 45-21 and Menagha-Sebeka 64-12. They dropped duals to Section 7A rival New York Mills 39-25 and Staples-Motley 43-30. They did dropped a 58-9 dual to the No. 4AA ranked Perham. The Cowboys had a very strong showing at the Minnewaska Duals despite dropping two duals. They lost to highly ranked Class A Minneota 33-31 and to Minnewaska 39-30.

11. BERTHA-HEWITT/VERNDALE RAIDERS
The Raiders topped Park Region Conference foes Ottertail Central 44-25 and Menagha-Sebeka 54-23. They dropped two duals at the Minnewaska Duals to Jackson County Central 59-10 and Minnewaska 52-16. They lost to No. 4AA ranked Perham 57-13. The Raiders had a good showing at the BOLD/BLH quadrangular with wins over two AA foes Delano 47-24 and LeSueur-Henderson 54-24. They lost to AA Lean and Mean Bold/BLH 56-20. Ethan Kern, Sam Moenkedick, Matt Moenkedick and Wade Moenkedick were all 3-0 for the Raiders. The Raiders had a good showing with their win over AAA Alexandria 49-27. They did drop a good dual to AAA Bemidji 41-29.

12. CROSBY-IRONTON RANGERS
The Rangers have had very impressive performances as they topped three AA foes Park Rapids 36-33, Walker/Hackensack/Ackley/Nevis 51-24 and Mora 33-32. They dropped a dual to AA ranked Milaca 47-18. The Rangers had a very good showing at the Parkers Prairie Tourney with 159 points to earn third place with seven wrestlers placing in the top four. They won four championships by Brad Hofstrand, Wade Adams, Andrew Kayfes and Ben Rothstein. Brandon Biever, Cory Henningson and Lane Srock all earned second place. The Rangers dropped a pair of duals to Section 6A foe Aitkin 44-21 and to AA foe Staples-Motley 37-28.

PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs lost a close dual to West Central North Conference foe Minnewaska 32-26. They topped Sauk Centre in West Central North Conference dual meet action also in a very close match 37-34 and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 48-23. The Bulldogs dropped a good dual to AA rival Litchfield 34-25. The Bulldogs earned seventh place at their invitational with 112 points. They had five wrestlers place in the top four including Jordan Christian and Jeff Albright both earning seconds. Luke Frank took third place and Aaron Burris and Brad Torborg both took fourth place.

HOWARD LAKE/WAVERLY/WINSTED LAKERS
The Lakers topped AA Zimmerman 38-27 and they have lost several duals to AA foes; BOLD 36-27, Litchfield 46-21, Watertown 45-20. They dropped a dual to Class A Section 5A foe Paynesville 56-21. The Lakers topped Section 5A rival Eden Valley-Watkins 43-27.

EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES
The Eagles topped Central Minnesota Conference foes Rockford 69-9, Holdingford 31-28 and Kimball 47-27. They dropped a Central Minnesota Conference duals to Pierz 45-22 and Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 43-27. The Eagle dropped a pair of duals at the Kimball duals to Lean and Mean Class A foes Yellow Medicine East 45-19 and St. James 55-15. They earned fourth place at the New London-Spicer Tourney with 149 points and eight wrestlers placing in the top four. Chris Faber and Jacob Forcier both won championship and Ryan Sullivan and Mike Sullivan both earned second place. Dustin Kramer, Tom Jochum, Kevin Kramer and Jeff Dockendorf all took fourth place.
