At Sauk Centre Ken Vogt will come out of retirement once again to coach the Mainstreeters. The School District was unable to find former Head Coach Billy Dehmer a teaching position.West Central South Conference
At Yellow Medicine East David Wingert will be the new Head Coach for the Sting. He is a former Plainview-Elgin-Milleville wrestler and Southwest graduate and he is a Special Education Instructor at the High School. His Assistant Coaches will be Corey Field, Scott Jacobson and Nick Cole. David replaces the retiring Gary Wolf. Gary was Head Coach for 25 years and compiled a 318 and 149-2 Dual meet record. Congratulations to Gary on his retirement.Central Minnesota Conference
At Benson Brian Knutson a former assistant coach will be the Braves new Head Coach. Brian is a former Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestlers, he doesn’t work on the staff at the Benson Schools. Brian replaces the retiring Steve Ricard. Congratulations on your retirement Coach. New assistant coaches will be Al Braaten and Randy Weber.
At Morris Shane Tappe a former Detroit Lakes wrestler and St. Cloud State graduate will be the Tigers new Head Wrestling Coach. He will be teaching Industrial Tech at the Morris Area Schools. Shane replaces Johnny Frank, he took a position at Little Falls as a Physical Education Instructor and Head of Weight and Strength Training.
At Holdingford Adam Johnson a former Milaca wrestler and he graduated from Faith Christian School of Forreston. He attended NDSU and got his degree from St. Cloud State. He will replace Jerry Huls who has decided to retire from coaching. Adam will be a Fifth Grade Teacher at the Holdingford Elementary School.Park Region Conference
At Rockford Nick Peterson will be the new Head Coach, he will be working as a Social Studies Instructor at the Rockford Schools. He is a Superior High School, Superior graduate and got his degree at St. Cloud State where wrestled and played football. Nick has replaced Jerry Weyer who has retired from coaching, he will remain as a Physical Education Instructor at the Rockford Schools. Congratulations to Jerry on his retirement from coaching.
At Royalton Kevin Presler returns to the Head Wrestling Coaching position that he held several years for his hiatus from coaching. Kevin replaced John Holthaus. Kevin continues to teach Science at the Royalton Public Schools.
At Parkers Prairie Billy Wagner will be the new Head Wrestling Coach. Billy was Co-Head Coach last season. He will continue to work as a Special Education Instructor at the Parkers Prairie Schools. He replaces legendary long time coach Larry Lahmen, as Larry has retired from coaching. Congratulations on Larry’s retirement.Great River Conference
At Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Mike Barthel will be the new Head Wrestling Coach for the Raiders. Mike was an assistant last year and prior to that was an assistant at the KMS schools. He is a former Saint Michael-Albertville wrestler and a Ridgewater and St. Cloud State graduate. Mike replaces long time Coach Steve Techam. He was the Head Wrestling coach for 34 years and has retired from Coaching. Congratulations to this Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame, Steve on his retirement!
At Braham Craig Kotsmith will be the new Head Wrestling Coach for the Bombers. Craig is a former Milaca wrestler and he graduated with his Business Degree from University Wisconsin-Stout. Where he earned All American Honors in Track and Field. Craig will be a Business Education teacher at the Braham Schools. He replaces Joe Rajkowski and was the Head Coach for 31 years, a special congratulations to Joe on his retirement from coaching.Central Lakes Conference
At Ogilvie Adam Halvorson will replace long time coach Gary Baker as the Lions Head Wrestling Coach. Gary came out of retirement the past seasons to help rebuild the Lions program. Adam is a 2000 graduate of Ogilvie High School and he got his degree at UW-River Falls, WI. He will be a Math Instructor at the Ogilvie Public Schools.
At Willmar Casey Johnson will be the new Head Wrestling Coach for the Cardinals. Casey will be working as a Park and Recreation Director and have involvement with the Community Education Program. Casey replaces Tom Beyer who has retired from coaching for 26 years at Willmar High School. Congratulations to Tom on his retirement from High School Coaching. Also a special congratulations to Tom on being named the Ridgewater Warriors Head Wrestling Coach.At Large Teams
At Annandale/Maple Lake Steve Kosloski and Bryan Kulm will be Co-Head Coaches for the Lightning. Steve is a Mosinee, Wis. Graduate and a two time All American for Mankato State University. He is a Social Studies instructor at Maple Lake High School. Steve has been an Assistant Coach for ANML the past two seasons. Bryan is a Mitchell, S. D. graduated and got his Education Degree at the University of Minnesota Morris. He has been an Assistant Coach at ANML the past nine years. Bryan is an Special Education Instructor at the Elementary school. Jason Bartels will be an Assistant Coach for the Lighting. They replace Dean Jennissen, Dean moved back to Dassel-Cokato where he is now High School Principal.Independent Teams
At Litchfield Robert Finneseth replaces Mike Fiedler to become the Dragons new Head Coach. Mike Fiedler took another position in Detroit Lakes. Coach Finnseth is from Plainview-Elgin-Millville and he got his degree at Southwest State.
At Zimmerman Matt Kraus former assistant coach and Instructor at the High School replaces Steve Vevea. Steve has to be congratulated on both the remarkable job in just a couple of years he has done in just a couple of years with the Thunder program. Congratulations to Steve on his retirement!
At Moorhead Joe Gaughan will be the Spuds new Head Wrestling Coach. Joe replaces Paul Larson; Paul resigned from his position this past summer. Joe is an Assistant Fire Chief in Moorhead and he was a NAIA National qualifier and gained All American Status. He was the Shanley High School Head Coach from 1983-86 and was an assistant coach at West Fargo High for several years.New Teams Include:
In the North the Foley Falcons will join those schools this season.Rum River Conference
In the South the Minnewaska Lakers will move from the North to the South.
The Rum River Conference has dissolved with Foley going to the West Central North Conference and the Milaca Wolves and the Mora Mustangs going to Independents. With no Conference affiliation this season and in the 2008-2009 they will move to the West Central Conference. The Thunder of Zimmerman will join the Mississippi 8 next season as well.Section Realignment (Change of Classes)
