Mound wrestling has a very storied and proud tradition that dates back
to the early part of the 20th century. To honor and celebrate this
excellent tradition, the Mound Westonka wrestling program will be
hosting “Mound Wrestling Alumni Night” on Thursday, December 13, as
part of the triangular meet with Mound Westonka, Glencoe-Silver Lake
and Norwood Young America (start time is 5:00 pm).
Besides recognizing and honoring all Mound alumni, we will be
celebrating the 60th anniversary of the 1947 state champion team, and
the 20th anniversary of the 1987-88 state dual meet tournament team. It
is sure to be a fun night of memories and reminiscing about the good
old days.
All Mound wrestling alumni are encouraged to bring in any wrestling
memorabilia or artifacts to display with all of the other trophies,
pictures, and awards we have gathered together. There will be a formal
introduction of both teams before the final match of the evening
(around 8:00 pm), and all alumni in attendance will be recognized.
There will also be a social after the match at the Mound VFW. All
alumni planning to attend should RSVP at the number or e-mail address
below, and indicate if you have anything to display. See you on the
13th!
