Bill Maresh and Jim Mead to be inducted into Blaine Wrestling Hall of Fame
January 7, 2008
Blaine Wrestling will host its second annual Hall of Fame night when
the Bengals host the Champlin Park Rebels on January 17th, 2008 at
Blaine High School. In a ceremony preceding the dual meet, the Blaine
Wrestling program will induct Champlin Park head coach Bill Maresh
(Blaine, '79) and high school teammate Jim Mead (Blaine, '79) into the
Blaine Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Jim Mead was a State Champion for Blaine in 1978 and 1979, and was a
High School All-American. Bill Maresh was a State runner up for Blaine
in 1979, and has been the head wrestling coach at Champlin Park since
the school opened in 1992. Both Blaine alumni have a long tradition of
wrestling in their families.
Mead and Maresh are the 3rd and 4th members of the Blaine Wrestling
Hall of Fame. The first Hall of Fame night was held in 2007, when
Blaine inducted Wayne Krebs (Blaine, '77) and Ron Cashman (Blaine, '82)
as the 1st and 2nd members to the Blaine Wrestling Hall of Fame.
