The Mayo Civic Center Region I Wrestling Alumni Hall of Fame will honor
twelve individuals at the Southeast Minnesota Wrestling Coalition
Association’s banquet on March 9, 2009. Also honored at the banquet
will be graduating high school senior wrestlers from the area.

JACK EUSTICE: Four-time Region 1 champion, Three-time state
place winner, Minnesota state champion at Janesville in 1973,
Outstanding coach at Blue Earth High School
CHUCK JEAN: 1967 Minnesota state champion at Albert Lea, Won four national titles, including two at Iowa State, Folklore legend
ROY MINTER: 1954 Minnesota state champion at Owatonna, NAIA
Champ, NCAA runner-up, Olympic Trials runner-up to Legendary Dan Hodge,
15th hall of fame honor for Roy
COACHES
DAVE ERICKSON: Coached over 30 years at Hayfield High School,
Produced several individual champions, Member of the Minnesota
Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame
CHUCK PRUNTY: 26-year head coach at Austin High School, Team in
the Top 10 for years, Member of the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches
Association Hall of Fame and National halls of fame
HOWARD SLONEKER: Long-time Stewartville coach, In the ‘50s and ‘60s developed the blueprint for this Region I wrestling powerhouse
RON WHITE: Former and highly successful coach of the Rochester and
Rochester John Marshall Programs, Developed a number of quality
wrestlers and teams
PIONEER COACHES
Le ROY MAAS: Started the Albert Lea program in 1943 and enjoyed
success through 1960, Started the Le Roy Scholarship which has awarded
over 35 scholarships
CLYDE RIDENOUR: Started and developed the highly successful Rochester programs and helped produce their many quality wrestlers and teams
CONTRIBUTORS
DALE BENJAMIN: The voice of Owatonna Wrestling for the past 25
years, has also announced at the Minnesota State freestyle and
Greco-Roman Tournaments, Wrestling USA Magazine’s Radio Broadcaster of
the Year in 1993
DEL JOHNSON: This Stewartville gentleman has been the
scoreclock/scorer at many tournaments over 30 years, including Region
I, NJCAA Nationals, and The Clash National Duals
DARREL LANDE: Long-time Official from Rochester, officiated at region and state levels for over 25 years
Committee Members include Scot Davis, Roger Knutson Sr., Jim Richardson, DeWaine Silker, and Spencer Yohe.
