Apple Valley Breaks 36 Year Old Record For Consecutive Wins!
January 26, 2010
Apple Valley recently broke a Minnesota wrestling record for
consecutive wins. The old record was set by Caledonia. From 1967-1974,
Caledonia won 83 consecutive dual meet matches. On January 9th of this
year at The Clash National Duals in Rochester, Apple Valley tied the
record by defeating Wisconsin Rapids for their 83rd consecutive win.
They went on to set the record in the championship by defeating Montini
Catholic from Illinois. Ironically, it was Montini Catholic who handed
the Eagles their last lost, a 34-29 defeat on January 5th, 2008.
In 2003, Apple Valley approached Caledonia’s record of 83 straight
wins. However, Glenbard North, Illinois stopped the Eagle’s streak at
82 wins.
To date, the Eagles have won 92 straight dual meet matches. They look
to continue the streak this weekend with a match against Rosemount and
a team tournament in Forest Lake.
