Central Minnesota Mat Rats Report (15th Annual)

Coaches, please keep me informed of your team's success throughout the season. With each edition, I would like to share their success in The Central MN Report. MAT RATS TOP CLASS A TEAMS

1. ATWATER-COSMOS-GROVE CITY FALCONS

The Falcons topped two West Central South Conference foe with huge wins over Yellow Medicine East 48-17 and Benson 49-21. The Falcons topped the field of teams at the Lightning Duals at Annandale with wins over host Annandale/Maple 37-25, Pierz 60-9 and Willmar 53-6. Matt Lee, Hayden Rouser, Matt Meyer, Ryan Larson and Dylan Nelson were all 3-0 at the tourney. The Falcons had an outstanding performance at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Hutchinson where they earned 201.5 points and had twelve place in the top five to win the tournament championship. Hayden Rouser, Larry Bomstad, Ryan Larson and Dylan Nelson all won championships. Matt Lee, Matt Meyer, Michael Kramer and James Nelson all earned second place and Logan Peterson earned third place. Jesse Whitcomb earned fourth place and Marverich Whitcomb and Jordan Nelson both took fifth place.

2. KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBERG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints topped the field of teams at the Silver Streak Duals at Osakis with wins over Ottertail Central 47-20, Pequot Lake/Pine River/Backus 60-19 and Osakis 51-18. Jordan Engler, Kurt Timmons, Klinton VanHeuveln, Joel Bauman and Matt Stassen were all 3-o at the tourney. They topped Camden Conference foes Renville County West 58-12 and Canby 47-15 and they dropped a dual to No. 4A ranked Minneota 49-24.

3. BOLD WARRIORS

The Warriors had a huge win over then No. 3A ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa 36-23 and New Ulm 36-23. They also had big wins over Glencoe/Silver Lake 48-3 and Orono 55-12, before dropping a dual to Lean and Mean AA Monticello 33-24. The Warriors had two big wins over West Central South Conference foes Paynesville 34-21, Dawson/Boyd/LQPV 29-20 and Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio Alberta 47-9. They dropped a pair of duals to former section 4A rivals No. 8 ranked Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial 32-28 and to No. 10A Sibley East 32-30.

4. PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldog had two big West Central South Conference wins over Minnewaska 52-17 and Montevideo 52-12. They topped the field at their tourney with a close win over Section 5A rivals Holdingford 36-34 and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 45-22. They overpowerd Sartell by a margin of 73-16. Devin Meagher, Micheal Doom and Andrew Moser were all 3-0 at the Bulldog tournament. The Bulldogs topped a pair of West Central South Conference foes Yellow Medicine 36-23 and Morris Area/Chokio Alberta 46-17. They did topped section 5A rival Browerville/Eagle Valley 42-18. They dropped a dual to West Central South Conference foe and highly ranked BOLD 34-21.

5. EDEN VALLEY WATKINS EAGLES

The Eagles had three big wins over Central Minnesota Conference foes with couple of very close matches over rivals Pierz 35-34 and Royalton 36-32. They crushed Rockford by a 70-12 margin in a very impressive performance. The Eagles earned third place at the Cub Duals at Kimball with a big win in the quarterfinals over Andover 55-21; they dropped a very close dual to Lean and Mean AA Staples-Motley 30-29 and their third place dual with Yellow Medicine East 42-31. They have some injuries that are hampering their performances thus they had to forfeit a couple of weights to YME. Jacob Forcier, Jaron Faber and Joe Holdvogt won all three matches at the Cub Duals. The Eagles earned second place at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by New London-Spicer with 166.6 points. Blaine Meierhofer, Jeff Dockendorf both won championships and Joe Holdvogt earned second place. Jeron Faber, Mike Downham and Mitch Asfeld all earned third place. Brandon Walz, Jacob Asfeld Cain Renner, Zach Blonigen and Shawn Mattson all took fourth place.

6. KIMBALL CUBS

The Cubs have been turning some heads with their performance as they topped a pair of Section 5A teams and Central Minnesota Conference foe Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted 40-25 and Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 64-12. They had a very good showing at their dual meet invitational with huge wins over MACCRAY 54-25 and Yellow Medicine East 39-30. In the championship dual they came up a little as thy lost to Lean and Mean AA Staples-Motley 32-31. An injury at 160 after he took the lead was costly as he had to default the dual and thus more than likely a nine point swing in the dual. Marcus Hamer, Carmen Caramen Hanson, Tyler Kuechle , Alex Thurber, Jordan Joseph and Tanner Mills were all unbeaten at the Cub duals. The Cubs hosted a quadrangular where they topped Section 5A foe Osakis 39-30 and AA foe Zimmerman 54-9. They did drop their first Central Minnesota Conference dual to Pierz 37-35. Marcus Hamer, Tanner Mills, Tyler Kuechle, Jordan Joseph, Caramen Hansen, Travis Schiefelbein and Alex Thurber were all 3-0 at the quad. At the Cubs quadrangular they topped Central Minnesota Conference foe Rockford 70-9 and Section 7A foe Ogilvie 58-15 and Section 4A team Norwood Young America 55-4. Tanner Mills, Jordan Joseph, Caramon Hanson, Mitch Pramann, Travis Wills, Austin Schiefelben, Alex Thurber and Cody Mackereth.

7. YELLOW MEDICINE EAST STING

The Sting have been competing with a number of wrestlers missing in action as they have a number them on the injured list. They topped West Central South Conference foe Benson 48-27 and dropped another dual to conference foe Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 52-18. The Sting did earn third place at the Cub Duals in Kimball with a pair of wins over Sauk Centre 45-23 and Eden Valley-Watkins 43-31. They dropped their semifinal dual to host Kimball 39-30. Justin Tongen and Cody Sander were both 3-0 at the Kimball duals. The Sting split a pair of West Central South duals with a win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 39-27 and they dropped a dual to Lean and Mean Paynesville 36-23.

8. PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers topped Central Minnesota Conference foes Rockford 45-21 and they dropped a pair of Central Minnesota duals to Eden Valley-Watkins 35-34 and Royalton 41-23. They topped Conference rival Kimball 37-35 at the Kimball quadrangular; they also defeated Zimmerman 51-27. They dropped a very close dual to former Pheasant Conference foe Osakis 33-31. Clint Poster, John Oman, Nathan Tomala and Sean Huls were all unbeaten at the Kimball quad. The Pioneers dropped a pair of duals at the Mora triangular to host Mora 40-29 and Mille Lacs 33-32. They traveled to Annandale for the Lightning duals where they were 0-3 on the day as they dropped duals to Willmar 40-39, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 60-9 and Annandale/Maple Lake 51-13. Clint Poster and Brad Meyer were both 3-0 at the Lightning tourney. The Pioneers overwhelmed three foes including Section 7A foe Ogilvie 53-22, Rush City/Braham 51-9 and East Ridge 56-12.

9. ROYALTON ROYALS

The Royals topped Pierz 41-23 in a big Central Minnesota Conference dual and Section 7A for possibly the number one seed. They dropped a very close dual to Central Minnesota Conference favorite Eden Valley-Watkins 36-32. They had a great tourney at their own invitational with 185.5 points to earn second place. They had eleven wrestlers place in the top five including championships by Andrew Plumski, Mitch Lange and Kellen Franks. Odin Guerard, Andy Poster and Kyle Wentland all earned second place; Tom Averill and Ryan Brady both earned third places. Dan Moulzolf and Cody Broody both earned fourth place and Kyle Billmeyer and Reid Borchardt both took fifth place. The Royals topped Rush City/Braham 54-27 and Section 7AA foe Nashwauk-Keewatin 52-18. In a huge dual the topped Section 7A rival Aitkin 38-25.

10. BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers have gotten a couple wrestlers back as they have had some great efforts as they topped South Dakota rival Sissiton 51-21. They topped a pair of Section 6A teams in very convincing fashion over Barnesville 65-3 and Pelican Rapids 57-8. They earned fourth place at the Laker Duals at Minnewaska with a win over Hutchinson 46-26. They dropped their semifinal to the No. 2 ranked team in the nation Apple Valley 54-15 and their third place dual with highly ranked Jackson County Central 40-33.

11. NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles topped Park Region Conference foes Osakis 41-24 and Ottertail Central in a very close dual 37-32. They dropped duals to No. 2A ranked Frazee 51-18 and No. 11AA ranked Perham 53-12. They had a great tourney with 167 points to earn third Place at the Barrel O’Fun Tourney at Perham. They had nine wrestlers place in the top five including one championship by Shane Novak and Tommy Selander, Michael Meyer, Jordan Novak and Landyn Saewert all earned second place. Jarrod Norton, Peter Stark and Josh Bernu all earned third place and Noah Pesola took fifth place. The Eagles topped Park Region Conference and Section 6A rival Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 66-12. The Eagles had a great tournament at the Terry Tieken Invitational hosted by Lake Park where they had ten place winners to earn second place with ten place winners. Jordan and Shane Novak both won championships and Landyn Saewert and Seth Hoffland both second place. Maison Roberts, Michael Myer and Jarrod Norton all earned third place and Josh Bernu and Peter Stark both took fourth place.

12. OSAKIS SILVER STREAKS

The Silver Streaks topped Park Region Conference foe Parkers Prairie 56-18 and Section 5A foe Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 43-27. They dropped a dual to Lean and Mean foe Kimball 49-30 and they topped Pierz in a very close dual 33-31. They earned second place at the Silver Streak duals.

BENSON BRAVES

The Braves had a great couple of weeks as they topped the field at their invitational with 201 points and twelve placing in the top five including Joe Weber, David Tweten and Ryan Thompson all won championships and Brady Wersinger and Morgan Staton both earned second place. Matt Plumhoff, Jesse Lundebrek, Ben Lundebrek, Brandon Hanson and Andrew Carruth all earned third place and Sam Carruth earned fourth place and Justin Golden took fifth place. The Braves topped the field of teams at the Panthers invitational at Parkers Prairie where they earned 235 points and thirteen place winners. Joe Weber, Matt Plumhoff and Ryan Thompson all won championships and Brady Wersinger, Ben Lundebrek, Morgan Staton, and Justin Golden all earned second place. Jesse Lundebrek and David Tweten both earned third place and Lamberto Rodriquez , Brandon Hanson, Sam Carruth and Tyler Jensen got fourth place. The Braves earned 161 points and had eleven wrestlers place in the top five to take third place at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by New London-Spicer. Ryan Thompson won their lone championship and Brady Wesinger, Matt Plumhoff and Justin Golden all earned second place. Ben Lundebrek and David Tweten both earned third place, Sam Carruth and Brandon Hanson both earned fourth place and Lamberto Rodriquez, Tyler Jenson and Joe Weber all took fifth place.

MILLE LACS RAIDERS

The Raiders topped Great River Conference duals Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City 64-12, Aitkin 42-25 and Crosby-Ironton 58-21. In a big Section 7A dual they topped Pierz 33-32 in a huge match to determine section seedings. The Raiders dropped a dual to No. 6AA rival Mora 47-25. The Raiders dropped a pair of duals to their AA rivals Lean and Princeton 42-28 and they came up a little short against No. 10 AA Milaca 64-9.


MAT RATS TOP CLASS AA TEAMS

1. FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons earned second place at the Kiffmeyer Dual Tournament at St. Cloud Tech; this tourney featured five AAA state ranked teams. They topped host St. Cloud Tech 57-9 and No. 3AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 42-13. The Falcons came up just a little short against the No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 22-21 in just a very outstanding dual. Mark Gehling, Brandon Seppelt, Justin Bowland, Tyler Lewandowski, Will Sustercich and Sam Keeler were all unbeaten at the very tough tournament. They topped No. 6AA West Central North Conference foe Mora 48-18.

2. MORA MUSTANGS

The Mustangs have been struggling as of late with many wrestlers in the injured list as they dropped two West Central North Conference duals to No. 2AA ranked Foley 48-18 and No. 10 New London-Spicer 36-22. They topped Lean and Mean Class A foes Pierz 40-29 and Mille Lacs 47-25. The Mustangs came limbing into the Blue Jackets duals hosted by Cambridge-Isanti where they took fifth place with a win over North Branch 36-26. They dropped matches to AAA Centennial 38-28 and Forest Lake 48-24. Dusty Thorhauer, Alex Dahms, Seth Sanftner, Blake Menard and Derek Carlson were all unbeaten at the Blue Jacket Duals.

3. DASSEL COKATO CHARGERS

The Chargers dropped the Nuts and Bolts dual to Wright County Conference rival Annandale/Maple Lake 34-30 and they topped AAA Lean and Mean Wayzata 39-28. They overwhelmed Wright County Conference rival Waconia 55-15. The Chargers earned 173.5 points and had eleven place in the top five to earn third place at the Elks Invitational hosted by Elk River. Max Anderson, Zach Peterson, Tyler Dobmeier and Sam Pokornoski all won championships and Kyle Johnson, Grant Peterson and Dakota Hanson all earned second place. Dan Wahna earned third place, Joe Chap earned fourth place and Andrew Madson and Brady Peterson both took fifth place.

4. NEW LONDON SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped five West Central North Conference foes No. 6AA ranked Mora 36-22, Sauk Centre 62-3, Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 48-3, Melrose 45-3 and Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 48-3. They topped the field of teams at their invitational with 258 points and all fourteen placing in the top five. Ben Henle, Logan Brink, Dylan Hanson, Shaun Hatlestad, John Nething and Chris Pfau all won championships. Trent Austvold, Tanner Tobkin, Kyle Cappelan and Zack Borka all earned second place, Chase Austvold and Tom Duscher both earned third place and Cody Haugenand Elliot Eckhoff both fifth place.

5. MILACA WOLVES

The Wolves topped West Central Conference foes Albany 66-12 and Sauk Centre 59-9. They crushed Section 7AA foes Princeton and Hinckley-Finlayson/Pine City 71-3. They dominated Class A rival Mille Lacs. The Wolves had a great showing at the Mustang Dual Meet Invitational hosted by Mounds View with wins over Park Center 72-0, Tartan 72-0 and Lean and Mean AA Little Falls 49-18. They dropped the championship to No. 4AAA ranked Owatonna in a very exciting dual 29-28. Jonah Gahn, Mike Kelley, Jordy Rogalla, Joe Hemerich, Rip Baker and Marshall Hopp were all 4-0 and Moe Moscho, Jason Rogalla, John Crain and Marshal Ash were 3-1 at the Mustang Invitational. The Wolves dominated Section 7AA rival Princeton 55-13 and they overwhelmed Class A rival Mille Lacs 64-9.

6. LITTLE FALLS FLYERS

The Flyers topped three Central Lakes Conference rivals Rocori 47-22, Alexandria 58-15 and Sartell 77-0. They earned third place at the Mustangs Dual Invitational hosted by Mounds View with huge wins over Tartan 63-10, Park Center 51-17 and Maple Grove 51-24 in the third place dual. They dropped a dual to No. 11 AA ranked Milaca 49-18. Frank Wilczek, Derek Jendro and Cody Bue were all 4-0 and Dillon Kifer, Zack Clark and Joe Tuholsky were all 3-1 at the Mustang duals.

7. FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters had a huge win over Section 8AA rival Thief River Falls 38-27 and class A rival Barnesville 39-26. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to No. 11 AAA ranked St. Cloud Apollo 45-25 and to No. 2A ranked Frazee 53-21. The Otters claimed the championship at the Terry Teiken tourney with eight wrestlers placing in the top three. Alex Hensch, Dan Revering, Jesse Laugen, Colton Thorson and Abbot Aho all won championships. Tyler Garding earned second place and Tyler Giza, Myron Bell and Bryant Marguardant all earned third place.

8. MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic topped two Mississippi 8 Conference foes Lean and Mean Princeton 43-25 and Big Lake 53-19. And in another huge win for the Magic they topped AA Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 40-21. They had a great showing at their dual meet invitational with big wins over AAA foe Prior Lake 47-23, Litchfield 63-12 and AAA Lean and Mean Anoka 42-17. They dropped the championship dual AAA Lean and Mean Henry Sibley 36-30. Eric Bourgeois, Jake Schmitz and Tyler Mergen were all 4-0 and Jacob Kohler, Logan Draack, Randy Ascher, Sebastian Gardner and Jacob Barker were all 3-1 at the Magic Duals.

9. ANNANDALE/MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING

The Lightning had a pair of big wins over the Wright County Conference foes state ranked Dassel Cokato in the Nuts and Bolts dual 34-30 and Orono 47-24. They topped Big Lake 44-30 and they dropped a dual to AA Lean and Mean Monticello 40-21. The Lightning had an impressive showing at the their dual meet invitational with big wins over AAA Willmar 53-17 and Class A Lean and Mean Pierz 51-13. They dropped the championship dual to No. 4A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 37-25. Jesse Puncochar, Cal Redemske and Jordan Hanan were all 3-0 at the Lightning Duals.

10. DAWSON-BOYD/LQPV

The crew had great showings as they topped a pair of West Central South Conference foes with wins over Class A Lean and Mean Yellow Medicine 37-23 and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 42-27. They also topped former Camden Conference foe Tracy-Milroy-Ballaton 46-28. In huge West Central South Conference dual they came up a little short against BOLD 29-20. They were 4-0 at their quadrangular with really big wins over Section 3AA foes No. AA ranked Adrian 34-33 and Windom Area 39-29. They also topped West Central South Conference Montevideo 57-18 and Fairmont 54-22. Ryan Swenson was 4-0, Lane Mitchell, Garth Oschandorf and John Weeding were all 3-0 and Christian Olson was 3-1 at the quad.

11. STAPLES-MOTLEY CARDINALS

The Cardinals are wishing they were still in Section 7A as they topped three former rivals Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 42-24, Wadena-Deer Creek 51-13 and Barnesville 52-15. They have although had a great season thus far and have positioned themselves to be one of the co-favorites in Section 8AA. They had a great team performance as the earned the Championship of Cubs Duals hosted by Kimball. They topped Glencoe-Silver Lake/LP 78-3, in the semifinals in a great match they topped Class A Lean and Mean Eden Valley-Watkins 30-29 and in the championship they also topped a Lean and Mean Class team, host Kimball in a excellent dual 32-31.

12. PRINCETON TIGERS

The Tigers topped the field of teams at the Zimmerman Invitational with 233 Points and fourteen wrestlers placing in the four. Karl Eichinger, Matt Zdrazeil and Adam Swesnon all won championships and Brad Haze, Louie Seraty, Cory Messer, Darren Nielson, Levi Cuny and Andrew Bartel all earned second place. Sam McPail, Zach Pederson, Joel Wiedewitsch and Tyler Petron all earned third place and Adam Pleshourt took fourth place. They topped Mississippi 8 foe Buffalo 50-19 and they dropped a dual to another Mississippi 8 foe Monticello 43-25. They dropped a dual to Section 7A and No. 10AA ranked Milaca 55-13 and they topped Class A rival Mille Lacs 42-28.

LITCHFIELD DRAGONS

The Dragons split a pair of Wright County Conference duals as they dominated Mound-Wesktonka 57-7 ; they came up short with Watertown-Mayer 39-27. They went 2-2 at the Magic Duals hosted by Monticello; as they topped Prior Lake 36-34 and Rocori 46-24. They dropped duals to Shakoppe 40-30 and Monticello 63-12. Kody Kalbrenner was 4-0 and Dan Cox and Brian Malipsey were both 3-1 at the Magic Duals. The Dragons earned 127.5 points and they had ten place in the top five, including their only champion Kody Kalkbrenner. Kyle Ballard earned second place, Derek Celander, Tyler Jones and Shane Gutormson all earned third place, Dan Cox and Brian Malepsy both earned fourth place. Nathan Olson, Dylan Reiner and Devan Nelson all took fifth place.

CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats topped the field of teams at the Jaguar Invitational hosted by Hinckley-Finlayson with 219 Points and twelve place winners in the top four. Jake Nase, Dylan Hogt, Quade Zupko, Riley Myers, Travis Kammerer and Clay Olson all won championships. Mark Sontag earned second place and Ben Hinderman, Chase Kammerer both earned third Place and taking four place were Bobby Sontag, Joe Virga and Tyler Heckel. They topped North Suburban Conference foes Columbia Heights 67-6, Irondale 41-30 and Roseville Area 37-30. They dropped duals to AAA foes Stillwater Area 43-18, St. Francis 32-26 and Owatonna 49-16.

NORTH BRANCH VIKINGS

The Vikings topped a pair of North Suburban Conference foes Benilde-Margarets 55-24 and Robbinsdale Cooper 54-24.


MAT RATS TOP CLASS AAA TEAMS

1. SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights topped three Mississippi 8 Conference foes; including the No. 3AAA ranked 10 Cambridge-Isanti 30-27 in a very close dual and also topping both Rogers 80-0 and Buffalo 69-3.

They topped the field of teams at the Kiffmeyer Duals hosted by St. Cloud Tech; this field of teams included six state ranked teams. They Knights topped Sauk Rapids in the quarterfinals 61-3 and No. 4AAA Hasting 32-20 in the Semifinals and then in the Championship they topped No. AA Foley 22-21, in one of the best high school tourneys that I have seen. Cole Salonek, Kyle Salonek, Ben Horn, Jordan Campa and Kraig Schumm were all 3-0 at the Kiffmeyers. The Knights topped the field of teams at the Knight Hawk Invitational hosted by Minnehaha Academy with 251 points and thirteen place winners. Cole Sladek, Ben Horn, Jordan Campa, Kraig Schumm, Ryan Kessler and Parker Betts all won championships and Mike Lindaquist and Shaun Little both second place. Lucas Martin, Sam Papas , Lincoln Mallinger and Mike Nerdahl all earned third place and Matt Logan took fourth place.

2. CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS

The Blue Jackets earned third place at the Kiffmeyer Duals; hosted by St. Cloud Tech. This field of teams included six state ranked teams. The topped No. 11 AAA St. Cloud Apollo in

a very close dual 33-30. They dropped their semifinal to No. AA Foley 42-13 before topping No. 5AAA Hastings for third Place 33-21. Tyler Tischer, Travis Holt and Scott Gifford were all 3-0 at the Kiffmeyers. In a huge quadrangular they topped three Section 7AAA foes; including

Forest Lake 35-22, Coon Rapids 37-13 and St. Francis 44-26. Tyler Tischer, Travis Holt, Adam Kelling and Derek Swanson were all 3-0 at the quad. The Blue Jackets used several wrestlers in this quad or surely there would have been more 3-0 wrestlers. They dropped what was more than likely the Mississippi 8 Conference Championship in a dual to Saint Michael-Albertville 30-27. The Blue Jackets topped three foes at their dual meet invitational with wins over Delano 39-25, North Branch 50-30 and Forrest Lake 33-26. Travis Holt, Adam Kelling and Derek Swanson were all 3-0 at the Blue Jacket Duals.

3. ST. CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles topped Three Central Lakes Conference foes; including a big win over AA Lean and Mean Fergus Falls 46-25, Sartell 70-9 and Alexandria 63-14. They had a very good showing at the Kiffmeyer Duals hosted by St. Cloud Tech; they dropped their first dual to No. 3AAA ranked Cambridge-Isanti 33-30. In their second round they topped host St. Cloud Tech 63-12 and to earn fifth place a huge win over Albert Lea No. 7AAA ranked 43-21. Grant Dullinger, Mitch Bengston, Nam Nguyen, Brendon Padella, Nolan Rial and Sam Koetter were all 3-0 at the Kiffmeyer Duals.

4. ELK RIVER ELKS

The Elks topped two Section 7AAA foes; including 33-28 and Andover 58-9 and Conference foe and Lean and Mean AAA Maple Grove 26-21. They topped the field at their Elks Invitational with 233.5 points and fourteen place winners. Robert Ketcham, Austin Stevens, Tyler Stevens and Holten Lubinski all won championships; Evan Caldon and Mitch Beaudy earned second place. Eric Stevens, Nick Madsen, Abe Williams, Kyle Wieman, Nick Smith and Jory Lubinski all earned third place. Taking fourth place were Corey Collins and Jake Staffenhagen.

5. BRAINERD WARRIORS

The Warriors topped Central Lakes Conference foe and Section 8AAA rival Sauk Rapids 37-27. They had a great tourney as they earned second at the Gadberry Duals hosted by Moorhead with three big wins. The Warriors topped Jamestown, ND 49-18, Bismarck (Mandan High School) 41-18 and Grand Forks (Central High School) 53-15. They dropped the championship dual to Fargo South High School 47-28. Aaron Padrnos, Nick Grausam and Chad Ohmann were all 4-0 and Jessen Franzen, Bryton Mutz, Tyler Kohlmeier and Sam Pagel were all 3-1 at the Gadberry Duals. The Warriors earned 201.5 points and had ten place winners to claim second place at the Elks Invitational hosted by Elk River. Winning championships were Matt Solid, Tyler Kohlmeier, Chad Ohman and Sam Pagel and earning seconds were Aradrnos Nick Grausam, Jessen Franzen, Shane White and Mack Glasby. Bryton Mutz earned third place at the Elks Invitational.

6. MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds had great duals with their wins over long time rivals Detroit Lakes 44-27 and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 42-30. They dropped a dual to highly ranked North Dakota rival West Fargo 45-22. The Spuds earned third place at their dual meet invitational the Gadberry Invitational with wins over Bismarck, ND (Mandan High) 45-26, Jamestown, ND 31-24, Grand Forks Central High School 51-19. They dropped their semifinal dual to highly ranked North Dakota foe Fargo South 44-28. Mark Wychor and Ben Gaughan were both 4-0 and Brock Tallakson, Nick Langeberg, A. J. Wheeler and Wilson Karlstrom were all 3-1 and Chase Morlock was 2-0 at the Gadberry Duals. The Spuds had a great tourney where they earned 159 points with ten placing in the top five; including Brock Tallakson, Ben Gaughan and Mark Wychor all won championships. Nick Langeberg and Chase Morlock both earned second place and Evan Gary, A. J. Wheeler, and Jacob Rositas all earned third place and Mike Zupan and Ben Herbst both took fifth place.

7. SAUK RAPIDS STORM

The Storm have been struggling with injuries the whole season; they have had nearly a complete lineup a couple of times. They topped two Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA foes St. Cloud Tech 52-15 and Willmar 43-24. They dropped a dual to Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rivals Brainerd 37-27. The Storm actually won seven matches in this dual, for a split. The Storm went 0-3 at the Kiffmeyer Duals host by St. Cloud Tech; the day started with the Storm having to forfeit several weights. The dropped their first round dual to the No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 61-3, second round to No. 6 AAA ranked Albert Lea 60-9. They dropped their final dual to St. Cloud Tech 38-33.

8. ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Little Falls 47-22. The Spartans were 1-3 at the Monticello Magic Duals with a win over Blaine 36-33 and losses to Litchfield 46-24, Shakopee 36-31 and to Henry Sibley 49-24.

9. WILLMAR CARDINALS

The Cardinals topped Central Lakes Conference rival Alexandria 50-16 and they fell short to Sauk Rapids 43-24. They were 1-2 at the Lightning Duals hosted by Annandale; where they topped Pierz on criteria (Most Falls) 40-39. They dropped duals to the host AA Lean and Mean Annandale/Maple Lake 53-17 and to No. 3A ranked Atwater-Cosmos Grove City 53-6. Alex Johannes was the lone wrestler to go 3-0 at the Lightning Duals. The Cardinals earned sixth place at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Hutchinson with 99 points and eight place winners. Alex Johannes, Adam Fagerstrom and Coty Milhausen all earned second place and Nathan Swoyer earned third place. Nathan Mittag, Mason Pomaleau both earned fourth place and Zach Morris and Taylor Neunmann both took fifth place.

10. ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers topped Central Lakes Conference and cross rival Sartell 60-18. They did drop a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals to Sauk Rapids 52-15 and Rocori 43-27. The Tigers hosted the Kiffmeyer duals; this is a tourney field that included six ranked teams. They encountered No. 2AA ranked Foley in the quarterfinals 57-9 and in the consolations semifinals to No. 11 AAA ranked St. Cloud Apollo 63-12. In their final dual they topped Sauk Rapids 38-33 to earn seventh place. Tommy O’Brien was the lone Tiger to go 3-0 at the Kiffmeyers.

11. BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS

The Lumber Jacks dropped a dual to Iron Range rival Hibbing 61-13. They earned fifth place at the Rick Lee Invitational hosted by Bemidji with seven place winners and 121 points. Jake Crosby and Corey Huber both won championships; Logan Crosby and Dale Norton both earned second place. Drew Peterson and Leroy Paceco both earned fourth place and Alex Johnson took fifth place.

12. BUFFALO BISON

The Bison dropped three Mississippi 8 Conference duals to No. 2AAA ranked Saint Michael-Albertville 69-3, Becker 51-16 and Princeton 50-19.

13. ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS

The Cardinals dropped Central Lakes Conference duals to St. Cloud Apollo, Little Falls 58-15 and Willmar 50-16. The Cardinals dropped four duals at the Monticello Magic duals to Shakopee 43-23, Anoka 51-15, Prior Lake 55-16 and Blaine 51-30. Lucas Betterman and Kyle Fulghum were both 4-0 at the Magic Duals.
