Elk River Old Timer’s Wrestling
Tournament
On
March 8th, the Elk River Wrestling Booster Club hosted the
5th Annual Elk River Old Timer’s Wrestling
Tournament and the 1st Annual Elk River Old Timer’s
Wrestling Team Duals at the Elk River High School. This year we had
146 wrestlers competing in both the individual and team portions of
our tournament. Just like last year, wrestlers came from all over
Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa to compete
This year we added TEAM
DUALS prior to our individual tournament which turned out to be a
huge success and a lot of fun to watch. We were initially unsure of
how many teams would be interested in competing in this event but
found 8 teams right away and ended up turning away 4 additional teams
because of time constraints. The teams were made up of 6 wrestlers
and up to 3 alternates and were seeded based on their wrestling
experience.

Thanks to following
people and organizations for donating their time to help: Elk River
Wrestling Booster Club, Gold Country Officials, Elk River Wrestling
Coach, John Peterson and the entire high school wrestling team, and
finally Dan Wiemann and his family for organizing our concessions.
Since this tournament
has been getting bigger and better every year, next year we plan on
starting earlier in the day and then opening up the team duels to 16
teams.
We look forward to
seeing you all again next year!!!!!
