Junior Maverick Wrestling Camps

Individual Camper $85.00
Kindergarten-Third Grade 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Fourth-Sixth Grade 1:00-4:00 pm
- Open to wrestlers grades K-6
- Camp Coaches will be Minnesota State Mankato Wrestlers and Coaching Staff
- All camp sessions will be organized, positive, fun, and focused on developing high-percentage skills and techniques

Commuter Fee (includes lunch and dinner) $235.00
Team Rate $270.00
Team Rate Fee: Ten or more players from the same team will qualify for Team Rate. Maximum of sixteen teams will be accepted for each camp.

Wrestling Camp Director
Jim Makovsky
is in his fifteenth season as the head coach of the Minnesota State
wrestling program. Makovsky has tallied a 192-66-3 dual meet record and
has coached sixty-nine NCAA II All-Americans, five NCAA II National
Champions and seventy-three NCAA II Academic All- Americans.
This past season the Mavericks went 20-1-1 in dual meets, won the NCAA
II National Dual Meet Championships, won the North Regional
Championships and placed second in the NCAA II National Championships.
The Maverick placed seven All-Americans and Jason Rhoten and Andy
Pickar were crowned National Champions.
Coach Makovsky has been active in running camps and working with
elementary and secondary wrestler for over twenty-years. Coach Makovsky
is very active with the National Wrestling Coaches Association and
shares the NWCA’s mission, vision and values. Makovsky currently serves
as a board member and is a past-president of the NCAA II Coaches
Association.
Our camps are designed to teach time-tested, fundamental wrestling
techniques and tactics. It is our camp mission to equip wrestlers of
all ages with the seven basic skills. These skills are what wins
matches all levels. In addition, our camps teach attitude, discipline
and how to enjoy the sport of wrestling .
In addition, our camps will teach a fundamental belief system that can
be applied to all aspects of life. Setting goals and standards, a
training system and positive attitude will all be stressed

All wrestlers are grouped by size and ability and given individualized
instruction.
Junior
Maverick Camp
Date: July 7-9
Check-In: Monday, July 7,
Kindergarten-Third – 8:30 a.m.; Fourth-Sixth – 12:30 p.m.
Deposit: A $50 deposit must accompany must accompany Junior
Maverick applications. Balance dur by the first day of camp. Deposits
will be withheld on all refunds.

Deposit: A $75.00 deposit must accompany all applications.
Balance due by the first day of camp. A $50.00 service charge will be
withheld on all refunds.

Location: Minnesota
State University, Mankato campus in Mankato, Minnesota.
Facility: Campers have access
to the swimming pool, 6 tennis courts, indoor track, training room, and
recreational areas in the Student Union, as well as other campus
facilities.
Housing: All participants will
be housed in air conditioned hotels.
Commuter: Includes lunch and
dinner.
Applications: The camp director
encourages early enrollment to assure acceptance.
Security: University Security
provides 24-hour security on campus. Camp
staff will provide supervision 24 hours a day.
Minnesota
State Mankato wrestlers will serve as counselors for the camp.
Insurance and medical care:
Campers must provide their own medical insurance. A doctor is on
constant call and hospital facilities are readily accessible. BECAUSE
OF THE RIGOROUS DAILY SCHEDULE, EACH CAMPER SHOULD COME TO CAMP IN TOP
PHYSICAL CONDITION. Every effort is made to protect the camper’s health
and safety through the training of our athletic trainer, constant
inspection of equipment and supervised instruction of campers. However,
the camp staff assumes no responsibility for accidents or illness. We
will not accept a camper with a pre-existing medical problem unless we
have been notified prior to registration.
