| Minnesota Wrestling Officials Clinic Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Elk River High School map Overview Note: The Annual Officials Clinic has moved to Elk River High School at 900 School Street after 25 years at Coon Rapids HS. Registration is from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM with the rules meeting at 8:30. The clinic will end by 12:30 PM with no lunch provided. There is no cost! The clinic will be held in conjunction with the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Clinic. It will start with a joint session of the NFHS 2009-10 Rules Interpretation. This will meet your MSHSL requirement. Following the joint session, the officials will meet separately and discuss topics pertinent to officiating. The clinic is targeted at both Level 1 and Level II/III officials. These training sessions will meet your MSHSL requirement for advancement and maintenance of your classification. Key Note Presentation This year, Mike McArthur, former Osseo HS, University of Minnesota Big 10 Champion and All-American, will address the officials from a technique perspective. He will be discussing those techniques and situations that regularly provide problems in officiating. Mike states: “My desire is to help educate both referees and coaches with the latest techniques as well as address these problem areas.” Mike has been working with Hall of Fame Official, Dave Frisch, in putting this together. Mike has had many years as a competitor at the high school, college, Athletes in Action, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in coaching. He currently sponsors a number of wrestling camps and is owner of Gold Buckle Wrestling. The web site is at www.goldbucklewrestling.com General Sessions There will be a number of general sessions presented by many of the known officials in Minnesota. They have valuable experience in officiating key matches and in the knowledge of the rules. The Level I Officials, will receive on the mat training in the basic mechanics. This will give them the confidence to officiate and perform at a higher more consistent level. This clinic also provides an excellent opportunity to meet and discuss wrestling officiating with officials throughout the state. If you are looking to join an association, there will be representatives there to talk to. What you learn in the few hours of this clinic is more valuable than 2 or 3 years of officiating on your own. Clinic Topics
